Hi Prarthana, You may be correct from end user prospective to get things for free. But does it comes free for investors. No. Anyone who is investing a large sum of money to bring the news online needs a return of investment. Google is not blocking as whole. So still you are getting limited information about current happening across the glob. They are only limiting you from detailed report or full reports. One should pay to get the full story.

When any news company put extra effort and good investment to bring the news online, they expect a return of investments. By putting the free news limit by google is a good move. It allows you to get the limited information free but you need to pay to publisher for detailed anaysis report/news.

I think yes, than nothing it is better to settle for something, and I think this was the best possible solution for them, I don't think nothing has finalised yet and hope they make a better deal with the newx corporation and others, only 5 news articles from google is very low, and this will be bad for google, but then to resolve the issue for the time being this was a better option for them..

I am afraid this is another step towards the commercialization of the internet.Ever since internet companies like Google and Yahoo listed in stock exchanges, there has been increasing pressure to Earn Profits rather than offer free service. This has been accentuated by Global recession when many of the key Sponsors or advertisers drastically cut their ad budgets.Already most companies like Yahoo have stopped their free Web Hosting services-the fees they are asking for now is quiet high by Indian standards. With Big Money now riding on these ventures opportunistic companies like Microsoft have stepped in WITH THE SOLE MOTIVE OF BUYING CONTENT AT DIRT CHEAP RATES AND PROVIDING IT TO THE HUGE INTERNET AUDIENCE AT HUGELY INFLATED PRICES.This trend should be strongly opposed as once they buy the rights to these Free content we will then be forced to pay a lot of money for what we enjoy for free today.

setting limit for free news is not that good because people dnt access that free news totally freely they pay for internet charges.the main reason behind google's popularity is that it provides each n every news freely so if it will impose such a ristriction then ...............

i think for google setting such an criteria is very opposing. for other sites it can b applicable but not for the google because google is the main tool or search engine which provides free data and information to anyone... and gives us the some old data also, if such an criteria wiil b set out then it will be very difficult.

Hi Atul that is what even I have tried to come up in my argument that Google was making money with some one elses effort all these days, just by aggregating them, even the news sites were also getting enough traffic from google, but then all of a sudden there is a backlash from the news corps from around the world and Google is finding it difficult to handle this situation and Microsoft is now having a great chance to somewhat gain much more momentum in the search category.

I am afraid, Google may loose its target audience for such decession, if at-all. They earn huge revenues by legal and illegal ad postings and means. Example : banned in India, they are posting ads for clinics which determine sex of un-born babies .. !! The issue was raised in Indian Parliament recently.. !! Google might have, inturn, borne expenses for geeting feeds for news which is a major charm of Internet viewing. Bing, Current TV etc might get an edge over Google. Let us watch the developments.
