This is a very good step taken by Indian Government. Now, qualified young men who are not getting chance to perform will be getting new opportunities....

This job portal is an excellent idea, with all the skillsets shown, it can then guide a youngster to take a right step, understand the industry requirements, as we already know, graduates here are just graduates and not industry ready. With this initiative Govt has come out with a winner, hope it takes off.

I agree, Gargi, it's a good idea, but not so sure about the correctness of govt. data. SREI Sahaj has announced its mandate of establishing a total of 24780 kiosks in six states - West Bengal, Bihar, Assam, Tamil Nadu, Orissa and Uttar Pradesh. These will cover 150,000 villages, and a population of over 21 crore. During the quarter, Sahaj also launched a recruitment site for rural youth Chaakri.in. A business development team approaches rural job seekers while a recruitment team matches their skills with vacancies in various industries. Chaakri.in has vacancies for carpenters, plumbers, electricians, courier boys, drivers, security guards, masons and barbers. For rural women, the site offers posts such as village computer operators, data entry operators, beauticians, and healthcare assistants. Vocational coaching is also being offered by Sahaj. Such initiatives including ITC's rural job portal with Monster should address the unemployment problems in rural India.

I think this job portal idea is good as the government will be knowing the numbers exactly like the number of unemployment and number of available jobs in the industry and what needs to be done..here there will be many categories than what other private portals like Naukri or Monster is having currently at the moment as there is very less opportunity for skilled labours across the country and with this kind of portal one can tap the best talent which is out there in the country and avail their benefits...
