I do agree that some rstraint is required by social web portals. Having seen some unconfirmed rports about Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, I felt this step is a necessity. I do not belong to any party or favour any individual. Yet, mudslinging can not be appreciated.

Is it a crime to criticize government policies in India? Is it a crime to question government’s modus operandi on strategic issues that impacts country men? Well, it appears so. Union minister, Kapil Sibbal is charting out a plan to censor content posted on a wide spectrum of social portals before it is posted for audience. Is it a move worth implementing?

Kapil has a wacky, unjust explanation to corroborate his move. Minster is of the opinion that inflammatory content against a certain community, people and religion may wreck havoc on the social fabric of the nation and its time to control social media. Popular web portals namely Yahoo, Google, Youtube, Facebook, and Twitter are about to come under the government’s scanner.

What does this move imply? Message is loud and clear, think twice before criticizing government. You are being watched from somewhere. You maybe honest in your criticism but who cares. Don’t spew venom against the government, don’t fire salvo against the government, otherwise ready for the repercussion.

May not be a politics-wise move at these juncture, but really salute the minister for his bold move.

Rajiv, you have not seen much of these posts obviously. It is highly inflammatory for knee jerks to pounce on and create mayhem.

Plus the issue of pornography. Obviously not seen much of this sites as I do not patronize them. But they do pop up many times. Surely the website has agreed for it on exchange for money. Remember the net even more accessible for the children than the television.
