people here are looking at short-term goals. In long term china will find it hard to sustain it self in its present form of governance. China from a closed market in the 70s became open for investment and is steadily moving towards a closed economy again by imposing restrictions.

I think till now Asian economies are coping with the global financial downturn thanks to widespread policy stimuli across Asia Pacific, which has helped bolster domestic demand and strengthen recovery...but in today's time..India is struggling a lot with inflation and policy makers are unable to keep a tab on such things, and scams and ugly politics here is not helping the cause, infact its taking away potential investors from India to other Asian countries where there is political stability and China in that regard is having a very stable economy and also better political set up than India. Hence China offers a better growth prospects.

We need to rate the growth opportunity in India and China on three parameters-Short, medium and and Long term. No doubt, in short and medium terms, China offers better growth prospect but in long term India offers much better growth prospect.

I think India is the one with better growth prospects. I am not saying this because i am an indian. Growth in China is really suspect because most of the figures are not audited nor is their industry exposed to foreign competition. China's growth is spearheaded through artificial means like the undervaluation of the yuan etc. Whereas indian growth is very much genuine as already the industry is open for foreign competition in almost all the sectors with the balance having some semblance of foreign equity participation. Unlike china ours is a true democracy with a sound legal system. An uprising like those in the MENA region is just waiting to happen in china and once that happens their growth will fall. Already there are reports of large scale water problems in china because of pollution of their traditional water sources. More than 70% of their countryside does not have access to clean water. Last years budget saw china earmark 3 trillion yuan for irrigation and water related problems. Also a communist regime cannot be relied upon for long term stability unlike ours.

I think India is a better place for growth than China, due to facilities provided by Indian govt. in infrastructure & in tax structure/ tax exemption.

Beyond shadow of a doubt indian system of growth is sustainable. The chinese system being authoritarian may achieve results but in will continuously require authoritarian control to maintain what it has achieved.

Indian plan's of growth are future and long based but china's plans are based on instant growth not long term. China got growth very instantly but after few years, this will not happen. As we already seen, India and America are planning to ban the Chinese toys and electronic goods, because of bad quality and toxic plastics. China only want to earn money, by selling more and more, but dont think about the quality, while indian merchants think about the quality to retain the customer. Based on these and some other factors i dont think, china will also get growth in future.

Sorry Namarata, Irrespective of all the deficiencies listed out by you still business men prefer India because of our Democracy & English language skill which will edge out China, if we clear-out all these blocks, which can be with good governance & political will, we can score over China by offering better growth prospects to the world business community.

Looking at the policies and the Govt. initiatives, India offers better avenues for better growth. More democratic dealings are available in India comparing to China where the Language is also a stumble to cross-over the business barrier. It is not so in India.

China's growth in more substantial at the buttom edge of the pyramid. Infact Indian growth is similar to Russia. India and Russia have highest nos. of billionaires as per demographic features. This proves that Indian growth is very skewed same as Russia's.

India is faced with immense challenges in the form of fiscal indiscipline and governance. Slowly and steadily, India is moving towards Oligopoly instead of democracy. China on the other hand, has a very supportive Governance and Policy structure.

Indian growth is merely virtual growth, capitalist growth, share holder and political leader growth. The growth is related to top to bottom catagory of entire society.Chaina proved that in time which is not possible for India.India have not strong policy nor unity to grow at all level.

Let me support Namrata, abidingly ,by assuring that as of now, I see more prospects with China. But this doesnot mean that India can still remain far behind. We are running around very hard and will soon define ourselves to give a good kick to the global economy. Let us not wait far enough then.

When we look at the reality side, I accept the views posted by friends from this side. In China the political stability is there and hence they are growing very fast than the our country. We have to learn a lot from China especially from the point of view of their economic development aspect. This is the truth.

People in India and China today want the latest and the best. Both countries offer great opportunities in terms of low production costs, and a huge market etc. Today no one can afford to ignore India and China in the long term vision.India and China are the fastest growing markets anywhere in the world.China's proficiency in large-scale production and India's new economy skills are an unbeatable combination.

China is very cleverly utilizing it and India is not. India needs to wake up.

There is no need for a debate to say that CHINA offers better growth prospects. They were ready with the infrastructure a decade back.Comparing with India, the advantages for China are political will and leadership. These two points are speed breakers for India.Imagine, all licences including power sanction can be received within 24 hrs in China. We can see glimpses of similar growth happening in Gujarat.

the present situation is that China offers better growth prospects which India is not doing. Among BRIC nations , China is showing growth at much faster pace than the other nations.

Let's not look growth in isolation, China model has growth percolated down to bottom of pyramid and India stands no where. Besides chinese GDP has little contribution from global players, it is reverse in India. Morover China enjoys a better development Index when compared to India

Manufacturing cost is negligible in China, so they can grow better than us. Another reason is our politicians....
