not a guru on all cell stuff, but a frequency is never a tool for a hacker, its the applications the frequency is used in , on or at.  Smart phones are linux based and increased the hacker position due the 1.2 million sub programs to make the OS, with each doing thier own thing. Most cell companies build thier own OS eventually, and your seeing that market wide now........ its the security issues with the software, not the frequency that allows access to data, files or such.

I think there are several flaws still exists in electro mag. wave length kind of of enviroment.Hackers may take advantage of unenrypted bits traversal in open enviroment. Such issues to be resolved first and must be taken care of.

There has been an increase in mobile usage due to the growing GSM technologies and so has been the chances for hackers and in my opinion GSM technology has opened new ways for hackers.

To the argument u gave. i woulld like to tell people here that the data "over the air trasmisson" is always encrypted. the most Common service i.e GSM has a ciphering technique and Encryption for authentication. So till date over the air hacking is still not possible on the GSM and Other commercial  networks.

Even if the data is intercepted by any Hacker, the data is 'Waste' for him as he cannot de-cipher it in any case.

Even the techonlogies like the Wi-Fi and the Blutooth all have over the air Encyption Satandards set in their protocols.

I strongly is disagree that there is some problem in the E.M waves front.

Always the base station and the mobile station is vulnerable for attcks.

Thanx

Frequency can never be used by a hacker. Also, with the the introduction of all the modern handsets with complex machinary, it is not easy to steal any datas from there. So, I believe GSM is not a tool for hackers.

The GSM Hacking is mostly Defined (and with Found instances )only on the Handset end. That too is confined to Cell-Phone Cloning and And Some Private Data Stealing. With new Handsets With complex OS and Having Data-Centric Services are, no doubt vulnerable to hacking. But there is still long way to go When the no of cases are Considerable. As of now the Situation is too small.

Also

The new platforms like The Andriod(From Google) and the iphone and blackberry even the Open_source Mobile OS all have sound Security Specifiications.

So i belive the overall Hacking in mobile is still at very low level. but the Threat is bigger due to  almost millions and billions of subscibers using it.

According to the last record it was seen that smart phones became the major computing technology and the rate of hacking was not upto 15% also.

I do not think that this is a new way for hackers, it is simply an advancement of technology for people's growth.
