Has CWG become prone to the "observer effect"??

In science, it's known as the observer effect: the act of observing will influence the phenomenon being observed. But, as the Commonwealth Games is unfolding, the same might also hold true for a phenomenon not being observed. The Delhi Games are barely being watched. Seriously tell me..How many of you are watching the Commonwealth games at home....The answer will be like a big no...infact test match is being watched more than these games where our sportsmen are winning gold medals like anything.

Yes nobody is watching these games, people will just watch shows of it in news channels in the night where a half hour programme will be aired, where all the days top action will be highlighted and infact news channels are covering these games much better than the games itself. And people are not that interested in these games in the first place, we can easily make that out by the empty stands which we are seeing at the moment.. SO, yes CWG has become prone to the observer effect...

Sorry Ayan,

What I feel is that ," Observer effect" on CWG has minimal repercussions. As you know sportsman always perform his set-skill to the level that he possessed. Whether someone observer is there  or not. Only the Judge is to be present there to do  his duty very objectively to decide the performance. Of course, each country has his own spectators / participant to enthuse them.

Where in Games we find lot of spectators/observers because it is a pass-time. There is no set rule & regulation to judge the performance as we do in Sports.

So, I feel whether we watch or do not watch, a sportsman will deliver the set-skill to the fullest potential, so that one's performance is judged correctly.

actually india is competing to unique position in universal impact. so fuel. secularism voilances r challenging matter to tackle law and order .so all political parties made red alert in india .for which media gave good publicity.it is realtime real duty done by media.unfortunately rss said wewill build rammandir.so rahulgandhiji became angry and said rss is equal to simi.simi international terrorism made.but rss utterence consequences to inside country voilance.

CWG earned so much if negative publicity in a country like ours where cricket alone is considered as a game.But for this dubious distinction the crowds would have been better tho not fully occupied stands.Hats off to our blessed friends who burnt midnight oil to meet their selfish objectives,at the cost of spoiling our image and goodwill leaving a very big stain in our reputation and organising skills.

CWG has not been able to give the right type media coverage for the games also the OC has failed to generate interest in the public to go and watch the games.One main reason for this failure is the bas publicity CWG got in the initial stages.

Yes Ayan that is exactly what is happening. Thanks to Suresh Kalamadi & Company for empty stands. During Beijing Olympic games the entire city was closed with a huge number of spectators. 

Alas this is India and Suresh Kalamadi's are there.
