In the age of social networking, instant messages and sms where do e-mails actually stand? Survey says the users in age limit 12-17 have reduced the use of e-mails by 59%!! Even the other age groups have certain percentage decrease in use of e-mails. So is it the end of e-mails?

When the youth of tommorow ,i.e, age group of 12-17 is stopping the use the future seems dark. There is no way that e-mails will survive this age of texting and Ims!!

Though we may have reduced the typically 'forward' email trails as now posts happen on Facebook and so on. - still email in the corporate world is crucial. Important documents will still be passed via emails. Add to this Social Media Sites technically are sites that enable two way engaging communication - Email too can be categorized as Social Media since it does and enables the same.

Social web can concentrate only members while email can reach any where. Both system have its own property. Can we prove the effect of social web on email? No,so let them work. This is our requirement and made for differnt work of communication.I do not agree with this.

You are right Mr.Virag Shah. The e-mail will never loose its way since it is a important tool/vehicle through which all business transaction/communication takes place and further it is not separable and part & parcel of every business, even for personal.

Not at all, existance of e-mail as it same, i tink there is no change it might be increase or stable but 100% the use of e-mail is not reduced. I agree that the mostly youth 12-22 years are using social networking website facebook, twiter, blog etc.but those people who are doing job or busine they are using an e-mail for regular communication, no doubt the are also users of social media but as per my opinion the best way of communication is an e-mail. In corporate, majority all people are using e-mail for business communication. So, we feel or our perception is that there is not existance of e-mail due to increasing in social media. Even though we are not concentrate on e-mail due to the increaseing the use of social media.

@Rajeev Sharma, Emails are for everybody and one need not be an IT expert to comment on "Email technology!"

Will try to be more specific while referring next time :) Cheers!

I don't know why Anantha Shayna made this referral to me as I have no pretensions of being an IT expert. Nonetheless, I will have to support NO because for me email continues to be as relevant to me today as it was a decade ago.It is a very important means of my bread and butter.

Privacy is what emails offer as opposed to social networking sites where everything is for everyone to see and share.

For this one reason, Emails have their own ground! Corporates, Businesses will prefer emails, privacy and security for years to come!

When was the world so transparent? :)

In a humorous sense, has any company discussed about its tax filing issues with its CA on facebook? :)

"When would the world be so transparent?"
