There is no doubt about this. India has made a lot of progress during last decade. I am in total agreement with you Taniya on this.

Thanx for the referral, Taniya. I agree with you. We are very close to being a developed nation. However, I would also like to add that the greatest change must come from within us people. All of us should have some education, at least till the Xth std. Let us NOT focus on being a "developed" country. Instead, let us focus on being the best that we can be. Let us make a new top category.

I certainly agree that India is progressing fast, and the world is waiting to see how we're going to tackle the economic issues and social barriers we face. Indians don't value their systems and always love to adopt western culture, whereas developed nations in turn are looking at our progress and trying to follow us.

Yes, India is progressing a lot which is clear from facts and figures. Its GDP growth rate is around 9%, the 2nd maximum in the world, first being China. Literacy rate is 74.04% according to 2011 Census, again a growth of 9.2% than census 2001. Various government schemes are going on to fight with poverty and infrastructure development. The only negative thing on which India has grown is "Corruption". If corruption is either eliminated or reduced, India will become the strongest economy in the next 15 years. Jan Lokpal Bill implementation may help in reduction of Corruption. Jai Hind.

Yes, it is .. if these famoues scndels/corruptions and terrorisms are not happening in India, we might have reached to a different level than today. I have still hopes that India would become a super-power by all means of good reasons.

India is doing better but lack of wealth makes things spin slower. India has one of the worst economic and commercial infrastructure. Even African countries during apartaeid were endowed with better economic facilities compared to ours. We might do better in future. Calling oneselves developing for long don't look good either, the 'developed' tag is a better target.

Inspite of humongous corruption that we have been witnessing, our progress bar has not diminished! If you have self-interest, interest of the nation is fulfilled. Our young generation, out of competitive spirit competed with the world nations, outclassed almost 90% of them with their supremacy (though unregulated), brought the nation to center-stage! Neither our Government can stake claim nor the bureaucracy, who acted like stumbling-blocks in every stage, but this success can only be attributed to our younger generation!

This whole notion that our nation has marched forward and rightly in the path to shun the tag of developing nation in my opinion is a figment of imagination. The poor-rich divide has widened more in the last decade. The corruption stigma has reached almost every nook and corner of the country. The lack of accountability in the system has churned out many Rajas and Kalmadis, they are plundering wealth for their own dirty goals, while the common man in many parts of the county is struggling to make both ends meet. Mother of all scam has happened in this decade, caste related violence took place in this decade; crime against women has surged but plummeted. Honor killings are still practiced. I don’t think, we deserve to be in the category of developed nation.

".....Over the last 1 Decade" ?In terms of Road,facilities,Education...." Why are we talking about the last decade alone?. Decade after decade IF we ask anybody they all will say "We have made tremendous progress" BUT the number of people without food still remains nearly the same.
