I feel the initial day was not all that great for iphone. a news excerpt from ET says that "The snazzy gizmo failed to draw crowds to the stores of both the operators, in sharp contrast to the international markets, where iPhone lovers had queued up the whole night to buy the handheld. The mood was subdued at the midnight launch of the iPhone in Mumbai’s Infiniti Mall, with Friday being a working day."

A stiff price and lack of high-end 3G services seem to have spoiled Apple’s iPhone launch party in India.
