In case the American President Mr.Obama visit create a good atmosphere for India to deal, all will warmly welcome. However, his maiden visit can not be contrued as full success. Now it is premature to decide and let us wait and see to come to a conclusion. Dear friends, wherever America shows its interest globally there will be some sort of carrot and stick approach will be there. This means the American interest first and their counterpart interests are secondary to them. There are lot of precedents available in the history. Their counterparts will not be treated as equal.
Thanks for the referral Ms.Amrita.

Irrespective of our personal perceptions about President Obama's visit to India, he being the leader of the super power nation attracts attention of each across the globe. This attention definitely adds value and it did even. India's position was elevated with his presence in India and his realisation about India.

yes..surely india is the same name whom primeministers were not allowed to enter white house...it is india's growth that had made obama to visist india. the visit was not to assess the indian financial power but to tell india that now usa has recognised your power and companionship

Yes. If not as a President, as an ambassador of good will, his visit makes good openings for both Indian & Americans. Bilateral visit is quiet common but, in the beginning of office is a welcome sign for everybody.

Yes Amrita I agree with you. Personally Obama has clearly understood the potential of India and if you see he has a lot of personal staff who they are of Indian origin and to top it if the whole India will start spending say all most equally in that case it will be the D day for USA. Prime Minister has already stated that we need to spend one trillion dollar in next decade to create infrastructure. Take the case of out sourcing it is a complex issue. Say some company has given some job to IBM USA and in turn IBM transfer the job to IBM India what will say?

Obama visited India because India is emerging market in Asia and Obama knows very well without shaking hand with India in Business there is no option as India has good sources and technically also developing very fastly. But in Religion matter Obama has soft corner for Pak. and he skip role of Pak. in TAJ Attack or anywhere he didnt mention anything about the PAK Terror. In that case Mr. Cameroon was very clear and he has given very strong message to PAK.

yes ! you are correct.but there was no transperancy in obmas's speech. He came like a ceo of a company but not as a american president. just he met few company ceo's .he want's to improve employment in his country. This is not a fare deal. At a time he Released funds to improve pakistan military and he visited india for business dealings. There is no vision for Americans. Long ago They opposed Russains who were fought with afghanistan. No these fellows are doing same thing.already they funded pakistan twice or thrice.what is the meaning of it? china marketing their products in india as well as trying to occupying indian's land.what is the cooperation.everbody eyed on india. because it is a more than 100 crores big market. that's it

The realization that India was adding business value to the U.S. market was already known, albeit not expressed explicitly. Now, Obama's visit has highlighted this in a slightly better manner. However, much needs to be done in order to project a more visible image to the entire world and it also needs to be done more at the grass roots level so that the image is sustained for the future. Thanks for the referral, Amrita....

You are right, Amrita. The stage is set now for us to look at USA as a potential, competent and highly knowledgeable alley. Obama's visit has cemented our relationship and none other powerful leader than Obama have acknowledged our progress in economic reforms. America may be yet to overcome recession, but we, with a huge internal market demand can sort out many issues with them. Our railways, ship yard, infrastructure, transportation, power, industrial and agriculture sectors can look forward to reconciliation in their efforts for better quality, efficiency and reliability. America was during six-tees what we are today. The reforms and added value in their products have been remarkable when Americans desired quality reforms. You stand to gain by imbibing them.

I have selected "NO", because I feel that the query itself is irrelevant! The President of a US can't be a Fool, whatever we may be led to understand by the media. He doesn't require to visit India to know what we are as a nation. And India certainly doesn't need anybody's endorsement for its image. All speculation in the media is based on their local thinking juxtaposed with the political realities inside another nation!

President Obama left little more than beautiful photo opportunities and a light-footed display by Michelle Obama. A few business deals for American companies were brushed together into a package worth some $15 billion, announced in a speech in Mumbai—which supposedly will create 50,000 jobs in America. Disgruntled voters back home are unlikely to pay much heed. India and America could potentially become very close friends indeed. The similarities are many. Each country has an uneasy eye on the rising economic, military and diplomatic power of China, in Asia and beyond, and looks to the other to serve as some sort of counterweight. Thus, more so than the monetary value of various military procurement deals announced during President Obama’s trip, closer defence co-operation between India and America is what really matters. India-America trade is not huge yet—it may reach $50 billion this year, still somewhat less than the value of either country’s trade with China, for example—but it has the potential to grow. President Obama, as he was widely expected to do, did announce some easing of export controls on hi-tech goods to India, which will help in the defence and space industries, but it will not transform the trade relationship. More important would be resolving a spat over the liability that foreign investors will face when getting involved in India’s civil-nuclear programme. That, sadly, did not happen.

However, Obama's visit to India was historical but from the perspective of outsourcing it is not of much significance to Indian outsourcing industry. Obama is against outsourcing and this is a point of worry to India.A popular argument against offshoring is that it takes away US jobs. Stepping up his campaign against outsourcing, US President Barack Obama on Friday asserted his administration would offer tax benefits only to those firms which will create jobs in the country, a move that may hit Indian IT firms in a big way. The Indian IT sector which gets it's 60% of export revenue is going to be affected badly. However, it was not a good step to be taken for the sake of Indians but he also has the responsibility to protect jobs for American people. With the help of this arguement I can easily say that this visit has not shed the Indian call cener image

Amrita agreed for few comments , not all. The market globalization is the decision by usa only. after that their economy down fall in a great manner, that all knows. Obama visit India for US Jobs/Employment marketing only. Its partially helps india. There are many questions he left for India. like : terrorism, Kasmir issue with pakistan, China etc
