Recently India got a remarkable victory over South Africa in the fifth day test match and maintained its No.1 rank in test teams. As we can see that since the end of 2009, India has shown a sudden turn in its form. It seems each and every player is in form.

First it got victory over Bangladesh in 2009 end. But at that time, critics were describing it as an "easy win over a weak team" which even continued till this the first test match against South Africa (the second most strongest team) where India lost badly. But, in the final match, India's fantastic victory, which maintained its position in No.1 sealed the mouths of the critics.

So users, What do you say, has team India silenced its critics by retaining the No 1 Test ranking?

I am certainly feel that Team India's position stands vindicated. Whether a team plays at home or away  a victory is a victory and for a team that does not play as much of test cricket as some to be No. 1 and manage to hold on to that position is commendable. Even more hartening is the fact that individually also our boys have been on top inspite of lesser oportunities. It certainly proves what we are made of.

Critisism is not yet over. We shouldn't forget that we got all these victories inside India and our performance in Home has always been fair. A few days back Shane Warne commented that playing in home is always favourable. So I think to silence the critics, India will have to show the same performance in foreign countries also.

Of course it has. First the marvellous performance against Bangladesh and now, against South Africa has shown the critics that, its wastage to even doubt on Team India's form and performance.

Though victory is good yet Team India yet doesn't deserve the hype they are always given. We are incompetent in Bowling and Fielding in compare of SA or Aussies. Winning on our domestic pitches where there is nothing for seamers isn't so important. Our performance on foreign ground is not good. Though there is good spirit in youngsters yet a lot has to be done to be no. 1 in real means. And interesting argument Makrand!

I completely agree with your thoughts, we need to prove ourselves on pitches abroad, our bowling lacks its sting, you do not have a wicket taking bowler who can wrap up the tail enders - most of the time its agonizing and frustrating to see the lower order batsman killing time and scoring runs, it happened even against Bangladesh. Our fielding needs a lot of improvement.

I think of a new dimension to this. If you all notice current test series, the trend has been the same except the sides are different. But one weakness of Indian team has come out very well that is fighting spirit and confidence. Even today, Indian team banks on few of the players and those players happen to deliver when needed. But interesting fact is we couldn't produce such kind of players in current generation. May be we don't have any.. Final word, we won this match due to shear luck.

Its interesting!!

There was a topic here which has been discussed with a lot of passions by some relating to Customer Retention or New Customers. Mind you all, there was a great divide and the debate, I believe, is still open!! Its the same case. The question will be raised time and again. Why only the critics, even a common man (mango guy) like me would think... Can we RETAIN the position?? Silencing a hungry nation is IMPOSSIBLE Yash, but keeping them quiet for some time solely depends on the serious talent of our players nd the team composition!! Interesting :)
