In the current scenario you can rest assure that every major website company is coming up with social networking sites, because people are hooked up to these sites all the time and by this people are spending more time on this rather than other useful work, so what do you say people is it a problem or not...

yes it is becoming problem for different people in different ways. Though there are several benefits  for the users of these sites, too much of their usage has adverse effects. Students and teenagers spending most of their time on these sites to share photos and other unwanted things effecting their performance in studies. It also depends on to what extent these sites are used for sharing personal content. There are incidents that Universities have rejected admission to some prospective students based on their hobbies posted in their profile and ugly photos they have uploaded in these sites. In case of professionals, loss of productive hours affects their performance levels in their current employment. As we all know, low productive and performance levels dampens the career growth and future employment. These days, there are very few companies that are making job offers to prospective employers with out checking the candidates profile on these sites.

Do we call this social or virtual or electronic networking ? The person in front of you is ignored, because of someone else on the phone or internet.

Sites like Facebook, provide a view of personal stuff to everyone in your network, so the concept of privacy has radically changed. I have heard of relationship break-ups being declared on FaceBook. It is definitely changing norms of social interaction.

yes it has become a problem and in workplace like ours we had to ban our employees  using these sites so as there will be no time lost on the productivity of the company, so in my opinion too much of social networking sites has created a problem.

Yes it has, because you see people always being online rather than doing their job at their work places, checking whether who is online or not and trying to increase their contacts on various other things so too much of it there is a problem there should be a limit on everything.

No it has not created any sort of problem different social networking sites are catering to different people's needs and based on one's interest they can use this media, so nobody should have a problem they can choose their own social networking sites and associate with them.

Here I have got a nice presentation on social networking in India. Have a look at it....

No it has not become a problem, people are getting their taste of social networking sites now a days and they will associate with them if they are interested and comfortable with. So too much of social network sites has given them more choices for which they can associate to and not to all.
