I am so amused every time this debate comes up because people tend to take extreme views to make a point (and I end up being the only one with balanced view.. ok.. enough of my sarcasm..) Any human being first works for money so that basic human needs are taken care of. Once that is assured, generally people tend to start working for - professional growth - Recognition - Satisfaction - Sense of achievement and the list goes on and on. In other words, affluence allows us to be dissatisfied more as we seek more things in life.

Satisfaction is internal to the person. Satisfaction cannot sacrifice money. So long as money is the medium of exchange and not goods or in kind money is important. Can a satisfied person say money is no longer required. Permanent or Perfect satisfaction is not possible

Money is not everything. Health, satisfaction self respect plays great role. I have seen people loosing their health as they didN"t find respect or satisfaction in their job leading to illhealth and becoming unfit for job by 46 years. So satisfaction, balanced health associated job.

Money is of course needed, but the satisfaction is badly needed, money can make many things but not everything? money is just a commodity but the satisfaction is an experience which is algebraically ahead of money, satisfaction and the contentment are the most and ultimate comforts under the sun, with money we can buy a good flat, decorate our bedroom, buy a nice double cot, mattress etc., but the ultimate sleep comes through satisfaction or contentment?!

Satisfaction is the ultimate aim.. money is only a step towards satisfaction. Satisfaction can make one happy always.. where as money may not do that.. Earning money is difficult... but being satisfied is more difficult even if you have money.. so I believe it is satisfaction which is more important.

Money isn't everything. Money can't buy blessings, peace of mind. limit can be mesmerising. some say money is needed to enjoy life. no so . money may be a requisite to satisfy ur material needs. the more contend you are , the more healthy you will be. Lord Buddha's teaching that desire leads to suffering is tru in today's scenario. Being too materialistic wont get us any where

No Mr.Atul, people don't work late night for money. They work late night because the work they do satisfies them. Money can be one reason but its not the ultimate reason.
I feel that money shouldnt be a motivation factor to work long hours. For me its not. I just love my work.

Dear Beena i agree with you. If we are working hard to achieve our goals then its not only for money but for our internal satisfaction because if we don't have money then how can we satisfy our needs. Most of the times we get happiness because of the work that we are doing and if we are not satisfied with it then it does not matter how much we are being paid , ultimately we will leave that job.
So satisfaction takes precedence over money when we are trying to achieve our goals.

Satisfaction means not only satisfaction at job place its also satisfaction in livelyhood too.Sattisfaction at work place is always a great achievement and feeling but unless money is there one cant satisfy his family at all. So,its a mutual feeling that satisfaction alongwith money is everything.
We work for owr own satisfaction where only 'I' comes i.e., i have reached my goal, I invented some thing extraordinary,I will work hard without food and sleep to reach my goal. But generally we are not only ;I; it 'we' where we have to serve many people in our family or society, which I think without money is not possible enough.
What you say!

Everytime Money is not everything, esteemed position and recognition is also required. Also, in some relationships money is not in center but the good attitude and our appearance is also required. So, I do not believe that money is everything.

Money is just a magnifying glass, if you are good it will make you better and if you are bad it will make you worse... Money is not everything as rightly said by many. But, for everything that matters you, money is definitely required... People say Money can buy you bed but not sleep, But can you get a good sleep when you dont have enough money to feed your family and meet other responsibilities.. People say Money can buy you medicine, treatment but not health or life. But atleast if you can afford with money you can strive for good health and healthy life by ensuring good, nutricious food, best health and best medical facilities this may save one's life which certainly is possible only with miracle if one cannot afford with money. Will there be peace at home if one cannot afford children education, marriage and well being etc ...

A Doctor says a person- you will die within 6 months as you are suffering from Cancer last stage. Can your money purchase the following things please explain: death time emotions sentiments memories There are many more things that your money cant buy...... A dog is more faithful rather the most faithful among all other animals and even than a a human being today. It is the money that creates a confusion between a son and father or brothers ......... Money would be still a need for every one. Let us imagine the society to be a bike, the seat on which we sit is the upper class, tyres are the lower class and the suspensions are the middle class. If the road is good the lower class enjoys but the middle class has to face pressure form both the upper as well as the lower class. Moreover if a middle class family wishes to buy some commodity then the head of the family has to plan about 6 months in advance.

TO UNDERSTAND MONEY YOU SHOULD UNDERSTAND TE DEFINATION OF MONEY. MONEY IS THE EXCHANGE VALUE FOR THE GOODS AND SERVICES YU PRODUCE. WHEN YOU UNDERSTAND THIS ONE SENTENCE.YOU WOULD NOT ASSOCIATE EVERYOTHER THING WITH MONEY.YOU WOUL DNOT BLAME MONEY FOR ALL THAT YOU DO OR NOT DO.THE ONLY FUNCTION OF MONEY IS TO REPRESENT SOME COMMON VALUE FOR THE GOODS AND SERVICES YOU PRODUCE AND SELL. SO ESSENTIALLY IT MEANS YOUR HARDWORK.REPRESENTED BY SOME VALUE IN MONETARY TERM.IT IS YOUR HARD WORK,KNOWLEDGE,SKILLS MONETAISED SIMPLE. SO WHAT YOU DO AND NOT DO IT IS NOT MONEY.IT IS WE.IT IS GOD WHO IS WORKING THRU US.

well... i reckon that the levity that one gives to his 'satisfaction' & 'the money' is very personal , situational...... I wonder if these two aspects of life could ever get along side by side...... A person who is able to comprehend the implications of his monetary needs & his satisfaction levels could do a lot good to himself... i wonder in todays scenario- so competitive, so materialistic such people are EXTINCT............ To earn this money a cost is paid...to reach that satisfaction level a COST is paid...i guess one needs to decide 'HOW MUCH COST ONE CAN AFFORD TO PAY...............

As per my knowledge now days we are working for money, we want to fulfill our all expectation. If we work for our satisfaction, our satisfaction is directly proportionate to our expectation. It means our work satisfaction is related to money, No one doing work as a Social work.

The point which i would like to bring down is that Money actually flows down to saticfaction. One question i would like to ask, if you have no money and a lot of satisfaction, will that suit you?? if it does, then you are a saint. You should not even be in TooStep in the first place - just kidding though- intead, you can go to some mountain where one can get a lot of satisfaction, but less money and hence food. If i have money, i will do whatever satisfies me, rather than running after the money. Who does not want to earn money and lead a good respectful and comfortable life? i would say every professional is striving for that. Or else, lets not worry about appraisals.... bare minimum pay scale just to support the livelihood should be enough.. isn't it?? I am not saying, money is everything... but money is major part of That EVERYTHING!!!!

Its all about MONEY HONEY!! :)) I believe that for one to enjoy a life that is "No Questions Asked"... Money is the answer. Everybody is talking about financial freedom. So isnt liquidity and the ability to spend and earn cash the answer to it!! Its also not about working late nights or just 9 to 5, its about your own mental capacity, your physical strength and also your profession that affords you the things that are in your household! The you have the consideration of your children and their adaptability with what they have and their peers. Thats the most difficult part. You want to give your child everything that he / she wants... Well here goes the theory of "Be Satisfied With what You Have".... These are not easy situations to tackle everyday. Then the govt shocks you or just pats you with its budget... A lot of MF's and Insurance schemes help you but they are all long term plans. Money seems to bridge the gap between immediate requirement and instant gratification!! So I say its Money and its Money in today's world!

Yes Atul I agree with you, people work late hours to earn that extra money to stay fit. But for staying fit does one needs only money. I dont think so. Stop working late hours for money and you could see that you will be spending much less that what you used to spend on your health when you were working late night/hours.

People work late nights and and all day because of emotions. And I believe that emotions can make person stay away from his family for 2 years without meeting them. I knewa person who is going through similar situtation.
He is the only one supporting his parents for the loss they have incurred in the family business. The guy is not able to see his dad take tension, so he planned to stay back in US and help them financially.
