The medical fraternity and policy makers in India are in a time warp and need to urgently shake out of their apathy.... The great Indian balancing trick of making sure that healthcare for all by 2020 by a combination of adding new resources and shifting the fulcrum. Can this really happen? Health care is getting importance among the salaried class people including some business community. But for all is a great question mark since we have still people with lack of knowledge on health care due to lack of education and inability to make the premium amount.

About 39 million people fall into poverty annually in India mainly due to health-care expenditures. 1.8 million children under the age of five die in India every year. Some 68,000 mothers die due to maternal causes and 52 million children in the country are stunted. it can only be achieved by increasing public expenses on healthcare, some national level campaigns for health related issues like polio etc.. and proper monitoring of services execution.

have no faith in institutions which Promise to deliver, but when isee institutions like Vellore Christian college which do yomen service my heart fills with so much of hope and pray I could be a part to such Humane cause!!!

unitil unless political descision to allocate good amount of budget to health care it will not happen.Present our health GDP is 0.94% it is very less when compare to even developing countries.Only Pakistan is behind us in this issue even bhuton is very ahed us.In india nearly 90% of people paying out of their pocket. read article published in lancet for more details.

No...Despite all the current hype about healthcare sector in India, I personally believe that, as an industry, it is in no better than what it was way back few decades ago, healthcare might have been improved but the reach is not there.... the healthcare industry needs to make a clean break from the past and embark on a path of innovation if it has to meet even the basic goals of universal healthcare by 2020.
