It will surely give them a new identity as that is what they are looking for. Strong re-branding measures should always help the company make a mark in the minds of the customers. They should look for associations with cricket and bollywood as they can gain sure shot mileage by attracting the youth.

its not about HERO group who are deciding to re branding but every Indian origin company wants Indian name as their brand. HERO tag on their 2 wheeler will help them to emerge solely as a indian brand and make him to stand aprt from HONDA brand.every year when they get the award for best two wheeler company people who are not much educated still thinks that it includes HONDA company as well in this award.it will really boost their brand among farmers of harayana, rajasthan and whole north India where their image as a brand in no.1 great step taken by HERO group. this will inspire another company called Maruti Suzuki to ponder over re branding.i am fully agree with HERO group

Hi Rajvardhan, Mridula, Shrikant, Bruno. Thanks for your views. I would like to add just One point over here. Please Recall the Breakup of BAJAJ & KAWASAKI and TVS & SUZUKI..With Strong Rebranding, good designs, great engines. they made hard impact on people..Remember slogan of Bajaj pulsar "DEFINITELY MALE" so its all about how you create impact on customer's mind and put your ideas in right direction..More Views welcome...

They have hired Wolff Olins for new brand identity. Really can't speak about the end result it may achieve as the task is to change the perception of the brand 'Hero' . Considering their Indian stint with Tata Docomo in 2009 , I cannot comment on their ability to think and act Desi way. Hope for the best.

The Honda name is a far too powerful one to shed so easily and not too forget the access to honda technology that hero would miss. Indian vehicle technology lacks in the gearbox segment and overall on the R&D front, so it would be a brave Hero to go on their own without a foreign tie-up

hey paresh want to add point that u said ki spliting of BAJAJ & KAWASAKI was sucessful b,coz that company was in public mind as bajaj and not kawasaki-bajaj and i am sure after spliting people won't call it as hero group bike they will still refer it as hero honda bike....

Thank You Mridula for the referral. I fully endorse your perspective. On the contrary, Hero as a brand will regress as the brand that broke off from Honda. A similar analogy would be a Maruti and Suzuki split. Maruti would definitely be adversely impacted.
