Indian Railways has tracks fit for running the trains at 100 kmph to 160 kmph.It is still a utopia to run trains at more than 160 kmph.The main reasons is that Indian Railways is a non profit organization.A large proportion of people are still subsidizing food.But when we can develop a rocket technology to recce the moon,the beginning could be made to run high speed trains selectively.For running high speed trains,IR should appropriate rolling stock,rails,and of course ballast less track.The high speed railway track need a different altogether approach other than time tested approach of a separate sleepers,rails,and fastenings.The revised specification for preparing the formation has to be evolved.Before baying for such a track,acceptable level of good and safe track has also to be fixed.Accordingly,running stability,wheel/rail forces,and train body acceleration should be confirmed within acceptable limits.In order to test the viability of the system ,periodical accelerometer measurements should be carried out.The values should be absolute safety criteria.

Sure Mr Baksh,

Fully support, M-Bahn or Levitation, can as well enter here. There is a ready market as also brains to apply or even improve.

The problem is:  Acute shortage of honest, wide focus, long sighted, free minds especially where it matters most.

With now private players getting green signals in railway expansion, HSR will receive attention.As for maintenance of existing tracks,the scenario is fast changing with the introduction of mechanized maintenance.The railway tracks are better maintained comparatively earlier ones.

I support this side, but presently we are lacking in taking care of present tracks , so is it possible to take care of such fast tracks?

The occupation time of conventional railway track is more and it obstructs traffic frequently.The high speed track with ballast less track is low in maintenance,high availability,low structure heights,and low weight.Train sets based on TVG Technology can be introduced.The railway construction being capital intensive,factors like life cycle cost,construction time,availability and durability,less occupancy of track for maintenance and renewal ,the high speed track with above parametric will go long way to encourage public participation and provide impetus to increase in GDP.
