Home schooling is definitely a practical concept provided there are dedicated parents and a receptive student. What I would like to see more is that parents place their children in school and support them additionally from home instead of outsourcing them to tution classes. My wife and i have done that so far and we have managed to keep her out of tuition classes so far up to +1 and hope to do this through +2. This allows better quality of influence over the child and for tighter bonds with parents. The growing child is less likely to go wrong. Amazingly I have found that the value system in the child is better in such cases. Given the age we live in and all that means, we cannot exclusively go for one thing. We need a healthy and balanced mixture of many things.

These days it will be possible only where the parents decide to live with the kids grandparents. Home education can be productive only when the elders use their knowledge and wisdom to bring up the youngsters. The grandparents have time to devote to the kids, they have all the love and affection for them, they know how to deal with emergencies and are not panic stricken when the kids fall ill or are injured while playing. Home education provides a strong foundation for the children and they are not afraid of attending classes when sent to school. The kids remain under parental care all the time 24 X 7, hence they are always cheerful and free of fear.

I know quite a few families with very large number of children (10 & above) resorting to home education. And it is working perfectly well since both the parents prepare the detailed timetable, the subjects to be taught, the practicals, the exercises, the games and sports, everything to the last detail. And these children have turned out to be gems. Ofcourse, after school they go to universities for their higher education.

While the curriculum is the same than why not parents opt Home Schooling rather than paying exorbitant fees for international schools...
Is it not that we can even reduce the traffic on road where the school buses can be cut down...
I do agree that the kids would be loosing friends from the school; but friends can be from the neighborhood too... for social activities

I think there is a lot of difference between Home education and School Education system....Apart from classes there are lot of activities happening in school which gives a student awareness about the social life. There are lot of qualities being developed in schools like..leadership, Effective Communication, Presentation etc. etc. such Education is not possible at home.

Honestly - both has its pros and cons. Home schooling is good when the number of children is at least more than 2. It is difficult (based on expense) to home school 1 or 2 kids.

The basic purpose of schooling is not only to give children knowledge about their surroundings, teaching them ettiquetes but to allow them to adjust themselves in the social environment. In the school they meet with different children of their age group, interacting with each other is i think most important part of education. So Public schools are always better, their they will learn how to adjust in the world.

Public school / International school provides a different set of Education. One can not be compared to the other. Because, the personality development that they try to shape among the students can not be expected in the Home schooling. Moreover, the presentation of once caliber is molded to, aiming for suitable to particular type of life styles. Here the student learn to live on himself along with normal curriculum. We have "Nano" & "BMW" available in the market. Both are being driven by drivers. But, the man handles it matters.
