There can be more creative sort of work that student can do at home under the kind guidance of teachers & as per the skills & interest of a particular pupil like painting or collecting different plant leaves or flowers or making some science model or like that. Home work need not be copy pasting exercise,,,even if children do that,,,it can help them to keep their schedule organized & improve writing skills,,I suppose,,,but should not be burdensome. More over I personally believe there should be active involvement of parents in creative exercises so that they can understand the particular skill set of their offspring & hence assist them the best way they could in their any endeavor.

absolutely , by this way children are kept in touch with books for two months where they lost the name of their subject during summer holidays. you gonna to be a more strict mom but this is only the way by which one can keep their loved ones growing , learning, but it can be a different way.

No, home works are must for students. They will not study if they are not given some work to do. It is a process where the student is made to think what he has learnt in the class. This will help him to understand his ability. But it should be in some different form, like more practical than the same theory which is thought in the class......

Home work should never be abolished. It should be made more of the type that stirs the lateral thinking and creativity in the student. The topics given for HW should not be part of the regular class work and should be outside the text and should force the student to search. Now that searching is made easy, they can really benefit from it.

Hey Manoj, It is one of the most serious responsibility of the present middle generation to care and take care of the upcoming generation, the way our ancestors did. I support you. I also propose that the home work should be defined as SELF STUDY, which should be directly pertinent to the lessons being taught the next day. Thus the student would prepare the preliminary aspects of the lesson and sort out hidden queries which he might generate during the lessons being taught in the classrooms. Hope that Sibbal thinks evenly.

Assigning homework serves various educational needs. It serves as an intellectual discipline, establishes study habits, eases time constraints on the amount of curricular material that can be covered in class, and supplements and reinforces work done in school. In addition, it fosters student initiative, independence, and responsibility and brings home and school closer together.
-Limit after-school activities to allow time for both homework and family activities. - Monitor television viewing and establish a specific homework time.
- Plan a homework schedule with your child. Allow for free time when assignments are completed.
- Praise your child's efforts. If questions arise about the assignments, and your child asks for help, ask him or her questions or work through an example rather than simply providing the answer.
- Younger children need more parental assistance with homework than older children. Go over homework assignments with your child. Do several problems or questions together, then observe your child doing the next one or two.
- If your child is in elementary school, check completed assignments. At all levels, ask to look at homework once it has been marked and returned.
- Ask your child's teachers about their homework policy and specific assignments.
According to some researchers, two ways to increase students' opportunities to learn are to increase the amount of time that students have to learn and to expand the amount of content they receive. Homework assignments may foster both these goals. Reforms in education have called for increased homework, and as a result, reports show that students are completing considerably more homework than they did a decade ago.

Home work for students should not be abolished. When they are doing in homes, it will enhance more understanding & assimilation of subjects on what the teachers have taught to them in the class room. Home work is good practice & exercise for the students. Thanks for the referral Mr.Manoj Kumar.

IT IS NOTHING MORE THAN COPYING FROM TEXT BOOK TO NOTE BOOK ... Homework should be ABOLISHED, as the ONLY PRACTICE. It can be One of the Means & not the only Means. Kids should be made to Pay 100% Attention in the Class Rooms & more Interesting & Innovative Methods should be adopted... Which can OLD THEIR ATTENTION during Class & Ensure that What is Taught, Enters their Minds. Otherwise... Homework is simply Copying from the Textbook to the Homework Notebook. In some cases, the MOTHERS DO HOMEWORK for their Kids, so as to cover up their folly. AUDIO - VISUAL TEACHING is the Only answer to making Education, More Interesting in CLASS. Happy Debating Friends !

It is important that students should study regularly and also adopt practice of self learning. This can be ensured by having more interactive sessions in the class room rather than enforcing homework. Home work is always for past lesson completed in classroom; where as it is necessary that student should read the lesson in advance, make notes of things not understood and get it clarified from teacher. This to my opinion is the best way to progress. Shyam Dikshit
