We have our own tradition of welcoming people by saying 'Namaskar'. I think there is no need for shakehand.

While conjunctivitis was rampant I used to avoid handshakes as  much as posibble and used to wash hands after every handshakes. So I support you Suyashi unconditionally as health comes before business etiquette.

We have a tradition to greet any one with the "folded hands"! How relevant is our age-old practice even in modern times! Let us change the international code of conduct for the hospitality and health services sector given the threat perception these modes of greeting have!

Just by Welcoming and shaking hand is not harmful till we use the same hand without any precaution. Like after shaking your hands with some persons if you just rub your eyes, u could b infected.

in my opinion we live in that environment and air that is polluted so handshakes should not be a big concern it just about feelings and greetings
