HR Management situation in Indian Companies is really pathetic. There are so called HR departments. But in actual practice how many companies care about giving the employee a carrer path rather than carrying out mere PM and IR activities?

How many companies care about well being of the Employee and improvement of their work enviornment, working conditions?

Only by using glorified words like HRD etc. they try to fool the employees. Many organisations do not respect the employees as the Most important resources as they do not even accept them to be resources at all forget about giving individual respect.

Barring a few big corporations and newely emerged IT/Software Industry hardly any  organisation in India seem to be working in this directions.I may be wrong as i am not much staying in India, but correct me if i am wrong,I shall be very happy if proven wrong!!!!

Priyanka, that is true due to the scaling up of organizations they have divided it into two departments. But I don't think they are functioning the same way that of personal management department. Personnel management is more administrative in nature, dealing with payroll, complying with employment law, and handling related tasks. Human resources, on the other hand, is responsible for managing a workforce as one of the primary resources that contributes to the success of an organization. So many organizations really miss out some of the functions.

Thanks for initiating Sachin...

It is true that most companies do not follow HR policies in the actual sense. The main role of the HR should be to boost employee morale, performance appraisal and giving an unbiased report in terms of promoting the employees. But as of now the HR plays a key role in tieng up with consultants and hiring employees for a lesses package, having an adamant approach when it comes to listening and solving problems and being more management centric rather than employee friendly. So the main purpose of bridging the gap between the top management and the employee is never solved. So problems remain unsolved under the context of management policy resulting in attrition.Hence we find most employees in corporates not only under pressure but too stressed up.How do we expect sustained growth?

"Human Resources Development" demands an extraordinary congruence of global strategies  and HR practices.HR Department of many organizations work in an insulated way. That's why, they failed to follow actual HR.

Hi sachin interesting debate. In my opinion HRD and HRM are almost similar. Earlier days organizations used to have only one department Personal management department because the size of the organizations were small and the number of employees were less. But that isn't the situation now we cannot have a single department for controlling thousands of people. So the HRM and HRD emerged, HRM's main work will be based on recruiting and managing the workforce and on the other hand the HRD's  will look of employees development, training, grooming, etc...

So every organizations today are following HR practices but in different names and different ways......
