Views of esteemed members on both sides are very much appreciated. Though the main objective of social networking is knowlede sharing, there are also many useful and meaningful debates happening here on many contemporary issues of national interest, helping to bring out some awareness of both sides of the issues involved and conclusive opinions, which would be worthy to post it in an exclusive community named "Voice of People" and also mail it to the concerned authorities / organisations and to the MLA / MP of the members concerned. Not ignoring the marvellous contribution of many mature members here, it appears that quite a few are interested only in posting articles on every topic coming to their mind, most of which seldom meet the social objective other than crowding this platform. It is doubtful that many of them even bother to look into similar topics already exisitng in the community or care to go through and analyze the comments of members on their own postings an give their own conclusive views in the end. My only interst here is that, the sincere efforts of knowledgeable members who spend thier valueable time here should not go waste. Therefore, it is only fair to strive to look for ways and means to make some positive impact in the system with all these, however small it may be. Fully honoring the views in the other side of this debate, I would again request honorable members to consider my suggestion about the possibility of setting up a panel of moderators of interested members who would look into various worthy debates on topics of national importance, summarise those and reinsert so that the edited version could be posted in an exclusive community named "Voice of People" and copy could be mailed as "An open letter (to the concerned Ministry / Authority / Organisation / politicalo rep-resentative of the members)" to their mail ids. There are many burning issues like, Eradication of poverty, Price rise on essential commodities, High cost of Education and Medical services, Unemployment among youth, Natioanl security & Prevention of terrorism, National Disaster and Crisis management, Eradication of Corruption, Dangers of regionalistic approach for political gains, Irrational political activism, Irresponsible practices and hyper activity of media, Delay in Judicial system, Integrity and answerability of elected representtives etc., etc. It shall be possible to start exclusive community on each of these topics with few moderators for each. Perhaps, the approval and views of the TooStep administration also could be sought before posting the final version in the "Voice of People" community and mailing it to the authorities / organisations and the political representatives of the members concerned. First, let us know the opinion of members and also if there are members willing to function as moderators.

nice initiative, people with big readership and huge list can look forward in doing this as this will reach out to more people and eventually find its way to the concerned people. Nice to see such fresh ideas popping out

Amazing Mr. Paul you have brought out a good issue here. Many times we are just discussing things on social networks and we feel that nothing will happen by just discussing on these issues.
My 2 cents.... In my opinion it takes time to get results. If something we discuss here and to get that implemented, We need to raise the right eyeballs.
We need to understand first, what works in social networks.
Content is the king, if the content looks simple and easy to understand most of them can contribute and give their views, and share with the relevant people.
And if some thing has to gain importance in social networks & get implemented, one needs to create right community with interested & like minded people. This community should be driven by these people with frequent updates. They need to take to the next level by inviting & sharing with the relevant audience. Just by posting articles, debates and blogs on TooStep, Facebook & Twitter or any other popular networking site it will not help the cause.
It requires time & effort to the set the ball rolling.
To make this issues more visible on these platforms, one needs to understand how to use the interactive tools present on these sites. In TooStep, it is community, topics, debates, articles, refer mechanism, but we need to use this tools within the rules.
My experience says, content is the key which will make people to get associated with it, and to create the kind of impact what is required, one has to take initiative and be closely associated with it. This medium requires some skills to master it.
Mr Paul & Mr Kastury....Great insights from your side.....
Thnx for the referral....

Before we can hope to help, we must research issues for ourselves. Then, in order to make a difference, we need to build relationships with our leaders. Social media marketing has been proven an effective, productive avenue to build relationships with leaders we cannot reach physically. First then, we study the issue, then we build social equity. Some of our leaders are only a tweet away. :)

I agree with u sonam.. In this fast world we havent have any time to share our views with our friends & neighbours. Social Networking builds a community in which we can discuss, learn, comment, appreciate, oppose some arguments eventhough we have not meet our community members. We are spread all over the country but are mind may think alike.. this is a good gift.

All mediums and even Social Network sites ( a medium) have its limitations. We are to accept this. Equally, if an openion /idea is made popular and acceptable on such sites, it has is effects on the " real world" ( things here are regarded as 'virtual world'). To get real world actions, we are to go ahead as have been proposed here by some of our valued members.

I agree with sonam mam .Today social networking is a big challenge for us.Social networking is the grouping of individuals into specific groups, like small rural communities or a neighborhood subdivision, if you will.Although social networking is possible in person, especially in the workplace, universities, and high schools, it is most popular online. To make social networking effictive it is necessary that a common person who is giving his view must be reached to the desired person.

HI Abraham, First of all, let me give you big appreciation for the thought provoking and creative issues you are bringing to lime light. Its really a great job you are doing for the society. Now coming to your point, how to give maximum impact - We can't use a hammer to drill a whole! it is as simple as that. The purpose of social media is different for different walks of lives. Similarly a lot of other medias as well. So what is the answer. There are a lot of forums, associations and committees specific to each of the issues that we face today, that can generate some needed noice to get the attention. The current political & administrative system in democracy have evolved through a number of tried and time tested ways and means. I feel that is the only way to address these issues. To do this, each of us can take only one issue and become an activist and do things to bring about that change by winning the acceptance of the masses. We can't just gather sufficient critical mass of approval just through Social networking or any other one media for that matter. But if it shadows the currrent system that is followed for gaining attention to each of the issues, one may have some positive results. Use social media and any other media, also, as a part of awareness creation. Use it to get the feedback and then work out a strategy that will bring about the solution and again use media to get acceptance of the solution. After this, there has to be someone who can voluntarily show commitment and spend time and energy in executing it. Imagine if we won independence just through a social media, how simple it would have been. Media was extensively used only to generate awareness and then understand the pulse. As far as the social networks are concerned, I feel, it has to go through a two step process. First step being submitting ideas, views opinions and articles the way you are doing, and gather different opinions, ideas etc. The second step should be, which is missing in all the places, is to provide the summary and final frozen views of the participants, compile them by ranking based on other characteristics of relevance to the respondant and declaration by the author the out come of the survey. Then there could be optional steps - such as someone can volunteer to take it to next stage and drive it through to see the results. Finally, we should remember the following 1. The sampling that we do today is very little, compared to the magnitude of the issue effecting different walks of life. 2. We are, usually, unaware of so many dependent and interlinked issues with it so the discussion may become inappropriate, for those who are viewing it from a completely different perspective than you are intending. 3. There are governements and administrative mechanisms to do this and hence we may not have that much of flexibility to bring about any changes that we want, no matter even if our ideas are revolutionary. So the concerned departments, forums and individuals need to find a way to take it through the proper channel to attain the desired results.
