ON SITE SKILL CONVERSION, CAN DO THE TRICK... Its simply a matter of separating te 'Wheat from the Chaff'. There is no bigger Teacher, than Practical Experience & that is exactly what needs to b done. Those whom the Contractors feel, are more skilled than the rest, should be given SUPERVISORY WORK, so that by good supervision the unskilled labour can also be made to do GOOD WORK. If this Process continues... there will be a substantial increase in SKILLED LABOUR & the Quality of Work will not suffer. This will also ensure that the COST FACTOR is kept under control. Happy Debating Friends !

Thanks for the referral Mr.Malladi Madhukumar. I really feel sorry for not supporting your view in this topic as I have some reservation on it. My opinions are in line with Mr.Biranchi Narayan Acharya, Mr.Makrand Bhave, and Mr. Saleel. I could not differentiate between skilled & unskilled. This is because both are required to do their respective jobs based on their efficiency and ability.Wherever we need skilled worker and they can be deployed & wherever we need unskilled labour and they can be utilized. The degree of efficiency differ from individual to individual. Sometimes the unskilled worker may be better than the skilled one as the unskilled might have learned from his experience from various work undertaken. But at the same time the skilled one may be having less work experience. Ultimately the work needs to be completed effectively & successfully by the skilled & unskilled workers and their work allocation has to be cleverly assigned by their boss or the project manager, that's all.

Skilled labor costs money. Every builder in this business thinks about making money right from the basic stage of excavation and plinth. Unskilled labor costs less and is dispensible. Skilled labors come with a cost and also with a UNION. When you look into all these factors particularly in remote areas, builders opt for unskilled labor and hence less union hassles. With the induction of these unskilled labor what reallyhappens is that the job responsibility gets diluted and hence the performance is affected. In effect the quality is affected in a big way. Also being unskilled these labors are not proactive and hence open to on site accidents. That is more trouble for the builder. All in all unskilled labor is not a good idea for any constructio site! Thanks for the reference Madhukumar.

The issue not the unskilled labours from my point of view, it is the awareness which is not there in the society and the construction industry......As mentioned rightly by mr.Biranchia good project manager, project engineer, construction manager can get quality work done from unskilled labours also.....my 2 cents to add...my expirience is that if there is on site training program conducted time and again with due respect to safety standards unskilled labours will get converted to skilled labours..... what all is required is the initiative from the contracting company and its values ....to create skilled labours.
