NOT USEFUL FOR COMMON CIRCULATION

If it is just as a commemorative coin just to honor the Noble laureate and is meant for collection by the hobbyists and Coin Collectors, it is good to have that, OTHERWISE nobody would like to keep heavy weight coins of 35 grams each in his pocket for exchange of goods.

Commemorating Rabindranath Tagore on his 150th anniversary is okay! Why add a denomination (150) in coin, adding a great risk factor to the holder! Denominations of Re.1, 2 and 5 coins are in great circulation, and not Rs.10. How many of us really look at so closely the coins we hold, let alone insignia, etc.

   India celebrating the Rabindranath Tagore's 150th birth anniversary. On this celebration Reserve Bank of India launched the 150 Rupee coin in the memory of Nobel Winner Sir Rabindranath Tagore. Newly launched 150 Rupee coin is about 40 mm in diameter and It's weighs is about 35 grams. The coin of 150 Rupee contain Rabindranath Tagore image on one side and on another side it will contain the image of Ashok Stambha.

Making of a high value currencies to coins will give a negative impact. Just we can take Iranian currency "TOMAN", it has a very low conversion rate to US dollar as an example. Will this lead to a same concept later...?? think so

I suppose you too are on this side.

Honouring him is great but their are many other things that can be done instead of this.. 

150 rupees coin is not something which will be appreciated unless it is for limited time and limited edition.

Honouring him is a great thing but 150 Rs coin!! I don't think it is good idea. There are many other ways to honour him.
