Income Tax Refund -2007-08

purpose of income tax refund activity is helpful. but the processing method is not smooth and it is highly confusing

Section 237 of Indian Income Tax Act talk about the refund provisions under the Act, Any person whose taxable income exeeds the maximum not chargeble to tax shall pay applicable income tax as per law, there are certain provisions in the Act to recover or collect tax at source itself, also as per Section 139 of the Act, all persons whose gross total income exeeds maximum not chargeble to tax shall file his/her/its return of income before the due date for filing the return. If final result after availing relefs, deduction etc as per act, is after adjusting the tax already paid/recovered as the case may be is in excess of the liability to pay, then that person can claim refund of tax.
