Sir, U.P. Subodh, I am on this side - we understand the agony of you and freshers like you. Even today's experienced was fresher once - why a portion of the job-market should not be 'ear-marked' exclusively for freshers ?

The HR people here on TooStep may come forward with reasons and suggestions. I am forwarding your 'issue' to a larger bench and referring this to others.

Latest : I am glad and proud to see experts joining this discussion as was intended.

Just recently, PSU Banks are recruiting freshers after a long gap, say 20 yrs. Banks felt that all the seniors may leave by next five years and there will remain a few to train the freshers on-the job. PSU Banks, traditionally, promote their staff gradually to higher positions as per qualification, aptitute, CAIIB degree and wider job /Industry knowledge. To sum-up : freshers are welcome in such Banks.

Urvish your debate is very Good at present scenario. A lot freshers having the same question in their mind. But you have given second option that "experienced candidate are better". Maybe not but it is easy to take decision for any company to select experienced candidate than freshers. Secondly less training required for experienced candidate than freshers it means saving time/resources for company. Experienced candidates knows the atmosphere /behavior of company.

But for freshers it is not quite good. It stills shows that there is lack of employment for deserving candidates in India than developed country. Any HR / Consultancy firm didn't appreciate the freshers CV. Because they also working for earning and for completing the requirements of company. In India if freshers are selected in Campus then it is ok otherwise very less % of candidate who will act to perform in future with reputed organization.

Good Debate again Urvish!

Every company hires freshers, see how many they hire in comparison to experienced. Get your statistics right. I think at least 100000 freshers are hired for every 1000 experienced professionals.

Yes.Freshers should get chance then only they will get experience. And they will work more better than today's experienced persons. Companies should hire freshers for business improvement.Because they will come with new ideas.

In my opinion today's experienced are yesterdays inexperienced. So the freshers should also have the opportunity to work and to gain knowledge & experience. Of course, there is a difference between them. While comparing the salary aspect, the experienced needs to give more and less in the case of inexperienced. Sometimes, fortunately the freshers are also brilliant and they can be molded according to the culture, and wishes of the company & the boss. A good experienced boss or manger could have train them to perform effectively. The routine work or the work not involving any decision making can be assigned to the freshers. Certain work can not be done by the managers and these type of work can be done by inexperienced. Based on the assessment, the freshers can be elevated step by step.

Thanks for the referral Mr.Asoke Kusari.

Dear Vipin Sir,

1st of all i would like to thank you very much for your time and view

I respect every one here, I would not delete any of the Debate made, I have added the topic because I wanted to know the current scenario of Job industry in India.

I agree to u that you being at a high level management position understand how the world is compare to me who dsnt know a single thing of the job market.

Also I would agree to all of you points u stated  like about the averages that those people have to work hard I agree 100% to so that Average no longer stays average and they turn up good students or candidates.

I understand the dilemma of HR Managers i.e. they are not sure sometime whether to go with a certain candidate or not. that is why I have argued with the fact that Internships are required by all types of firm (which can afford to do so) to help the Freshers and them self as well.

Internship can help the whole society by giving a very good candidate a platform to show his knowledge and potential.

The bottom line is that many students are suffering like i told They have to do marketing of a product being in a finance or an HR field.

But i agree and respect to all of your view points and understand the problems of the company of taking up a fresher. But i still believe that Freshers once trained can do better as they are new to the Working world.

Again Thank you all very much for your Ideas and Debates.

i think there must be some percentage for the freshers. such that they will get a good exposure and ideas and develop the skill with the experienced once.Freshers are also skilled like any others.

Yes the companies should prefer interns for the jobs and train them according to our needs and then employee them. This will avoid attrition to certain extent. And the cost incurred to employee inters are also cost effective, so freshers should be given opportunities in all the sectors. If you train them properly they will give better results than the experienced candidates.

Thanks....

Developing or growing organisations may not afford the luxury of taking freshers, train them and wait for them to deliver the goods.whereas established organisations can definitely give opportunities to freshers, identify their talents, train them in areas of their interest.Freshers are preferred over experienced personnel because they have an open mind and can be moulded according to the need of the employer and most freshers display more initiative and are proactive propelled by their intention to grow fast in the organisation and also come forward to shoulder more responsibilities.A clear indication of increase in search of freshers in the increase in number of campus interviews and spot offers made to students.

I agree to what you say Vipin sir but I can justify why an HR manager should opt for Freshers.

1st thing is that the cost of training will be set off by the cost more you have to pay for Employing new Experience as an Experienced employee will demand more then a fresher.

2nd is if every company will think in this way where will the fresh talent go

3rd thing is Freshers have the mind and energy to think out of the box i.e. to create new products and Innovate.

Urvish same question from my side........

Vipin, Your arguement clear the picture about the problem faced by freshers who are deserving candidates. Waiting for steps taken by Govt. or any other organization.........

There should be no argument about whether experienced candidates are better as they certainly are. But experienced candidates also cost more, have their own set thinking, are difficult to find, difficult to retain and cannot be easily molded into the type of employees an organization requires. Freshers do not have these demerits. Most organization do take a mix of freshers and experienced people according to their human resources needs. More and better designed internships can certainly help.

It has been almost the same scenario in the job Industry where in freshers have to wait for a long to get a good job or else the Fresher has to be extra ordinary as we all know the difference is just a bit Extra but not all of them have it in them. The reason why Foreign countries are better then us is they hire Freshers Thou they only hire freshers with Nationality. Whenever I see a Job there is always a requirement column which says "Experience" students now a days have less worry of exams and more of how will they get a job or may be where will they end up. Campus recruitment usually is for the top class students why is that so? If companies just want Brilliant once where will the average go? Also there are a number of cases where in the freshers to start with Marketing even if he/she is a Finance or HR guy! The bottom line is I believe there is a desperate need for a change which can help students after completion of their Masters or PG.

Again i am saying that i understand your views and it is not only for yours but also for thousands of students who are unable to prove himself due to non availability of desired profile. Here many respectable experts will give many suggestions for your debate. But my question is that if you will find out any "positive result" not satisfy with only response please let me know.

I am this side only for To find out the major problem behind the concept because i am 100 % agree with your argument but it is not your mission that we just support your arguments but will not provide any satisfactory provision or result to all of students. So that i am taking 2 views for each and every point which shows one side from company & other for freshers students.

You are saying Experience:- If company go for selecting candidate from experienced & freshers they will definitely go for experienced; reasons so many i.e. training expenses, time taken, work under critical situation (recession etc..). From student point - less expensive.....

INNOVATIVE IDEAS :-- Company point... experienced can also be creative, innovative, having much knowledge about practical work.. student point - New generation, young blood, fresh mind...

Campus recruitment;- Company point- talented students, merit students, communication skill, willing to do long term job.. students point- every one is equal, it doesn't mean that brilliant student can also work/ideas better than us..

Off campus or consultancy:- company point- less botheration, selective candidates, experienced candidates easily found which are difficult task for company, not easy to select perfect candidate which will work for future between hundreds of candidates experienced or freshers... student point- HOW CAN THEY REACH THERE or SHOW themselves, what can they do if experienced candidate reached everywhere before them or always shortlisted for interview....

Selection/social responsibility :- Student point- what can do if always experienced or brilliant student are selected, where will average students go who are also eager to do something in life??? company point- WE recruit candidate according to our requirement, job responsibilities, area of work,

BUT why they go for social?? they are profit earning organization. their stakeholders, creditors, investors, bankers want growth.. Why they think for or take risk for selecting average students because according to companies "It is not sure that all average students wants to grow in life with his full efforts". There are so many examples of freshers who didn't do well in their areas. Then Why companies take decisions for freshers for crucial areas although experienced have some knowledge, talent as he already worked with other company......means less risky than freshers.

According to my experience Companies argues that;- Anyone stand on his position and then decide how much risk we can bear in some areas... we are recruiting freshers also but according to their talent, knowledge, understanding capacity which is not so easy to estimate.......

As a result of discussion Private companies can't do more in this regards. Govt should take some stem in the area like other developed countries i.e. UK etc. Can govt arrange interview for deserving candidates ?? Or HR consultant take more pain to select right candidate although he/she is experienced or freshers... More discussion pending from your side....

It is my personal views don't take personal on you as i dont want to hurt anybody.. you can add, modify or even delete, all or some views....

Thanks...
