I smell somethings is wrong going on ..because we are importing 70 percent of our oil need from outside india, this is one thing. It means we have to depend on other countries for our energy security needs.Second sthing is that libya is worlds thirs largest oil producing country in world. also it is having worlds most of oil fields and reserves. Also due to internal crisis in libya oil produciton has came to halt in many regions of libya and reflection to this crude oil prices in global market has touched to aboce 100 dollars. at the same time why petrol prices have not gone much higher in india comparatively to international market because we do have susidy bill backed by center on petrolle'um oproducts,it is only govt which is givingits subsidy.but due to this susidy bill govt will spends less on agri..,infra,power,edu..this will affect overall economy.which woll leads to inflataion and depreciation of indian rupee.

Stop blaming uncle sam, some states of India charge as much as 40% tax on petrol. Mr petrolium minister says that Indian prices are = to global prices but someone remind him that in Europe petrol sells for 56 rs/ltr i.e 98 octane and we get third world 91 octane for 63 rs/ltr

Resonance of this uprising would be felt in the entire Arab regions in the near future! India, in particular, should learn to conserve petroleum resources. A tough regulation on the usage of vehicles, etc. should be brought about in order to contain this aftermath effect. Every time inflation in petroleum products would have a cascading effect on the other essential commodities. Prudence is required. Pooling of vehicles, recommend usage of public transport wherever possible, etc. should be followed!

Indian equity benchmarks slaughtered in the afternoon trade - the Nifty slipped below the 5300-mark - on spike up in crude oil prices above USD 101/barrel at 13:40 hours, tracking rising worries in Libya, which could spread to other major Middle East producers including top oil exporter Saudi Arabia.
