In my openion now Samsung is better than Nokia, because it has low cost having all features like Iphone. I know Nokia was good in battery backup but now Samsung launched very good mobile having good battery backup, high speed processor and touchpad. In present market Samsung is giving tough competion to Nokia.

Nokia is a brand that is synonymous with mobile phones and it has a strong market brand image and credibility coupled with quick customer brand recall. In India, they have done quite well even though in the international market, they had issues pertaining to market share and other factors.

Samsung is a major multinational that is present in almost all the major segments in the consumer electronics market. They are also strong in the semiconductors market.

Thus, both the companies have a strong market background. However, in India, under the present market scenario, over 100 million mobile phones were sold in India in 2009 according to the research firm IDC India.

Nokia still has a lion’s share of the mobile phone sales at 54.1% and Samsung Mobiles has a market share of 9.7% and LG has a market share of 6.4% (2009).

However, IDC India adds that Nokia has lost close to 2% market share during this period and Samsung has gained 0.2% market share.

Thus, the changes are minuscule and going by this trend and assuming that the companies will try to retain their market shares over a period of time, it is difficult to expect Samsung to make any big headway in the market unless they come up with some new innovation that rocks the market....!

Thanks for the referral, Puja....
