For any issue to be brought to the attention of the Govt, the issue has to be given wide visibility. And which is the best option? Bhukh Hartal. It is non-violent in nature and does not cause any inconvenience to the public. And it does not cause a lot of money. The other options of strikes - pen down, lockdowns, go-slow, etc., are not conducive to the economy. And high-tech? Internet, telegrams, etc? They can be brushed aside by anybody. Once the issue has been brought to the notice of the Govt., negotiations, etc., can happen.

And, guys, who are supporting 'we have other options', please list them so that we are enlightened.

In my view, we have better options like public campaigning, awareness programmes like Jago Grahak Jago, bilateral talks with the Govt at varioas levels depending upon the strength or even more... Even, Gandhiji followed  the route of non-coopretion than that of hunger strike for national freedom. Does that bell..

In the era of British rule Bhuk Hadtal was made famous by Mahatma Gandhi to attract the eyes of Govt. towards the problems of the natives. But in todays India the Govt. is elected by us, Then why these peoples are using such type of ways I don't know! I think these people are unable to find more suitable way than this because it is very easy and famous way to come on the front page of news! Thanks for referral Asmita!

Yes better options are available. But, may be unknown to them or infrastructure is yet to reach them. Socio-economic condition drives the tool for communication. Populist opinion may be arrived at, through various way. But, those facility may remain too remote to access them.

@ Sriniwas ji. The whole issue on 2G is viewed as the case of judicial activism, in a larger public interest as claimed by many of us. If that would be the case why the Judiciary kept a closed eye on the already issued licenses. Why not the old cases...
