Thanks Vipin to have invited me to this discussion. Your statement is of course provocative but I agree with you. Crime level is due to social tensions. And people changing choices and behaviors are root causes for these tensions: in this meaning people is politically responsible for unsolved social issues favorable to crime increase

Crime rate increases because it pays! If there are no political reforms by way of prevention of political executive from interefering in investigation, if there are no fear of consequences because of inefficient and corrupt police, if there are years of delay in trying an offender in the name of fairplay, the crime rate can never brought down.

I agree Vipin. Especially with the fact that even if we see a crime happening we choose to ignore it. We do not report/ testify. Also let us not forget the fact that quite a few politicians have cases pending against them. If our chosen leaders go about unaffected, why will the common thug/ crime mafia not feel secure? We dont even go and cast our votes. Living in a democracy is a big responsibility. We the citizens are responsible for participating in a well run and maintained democracy.

How can Police & Govt can provide 24 x 7 protection to all citizen! It is highly IMPOSSIBLE TASK! Police & Govt cannot do much without the support of the general public. Govt come out with legislation and police only enforce them. It is we, THE GENERAL PUBLIC, who needs to respect and participate for the successful implementation of such regulations. How many of us do REALLY CARE to SHARE to our responsibilities towards our fellow-citizens. We are always busy. When we are in REAL TROUBLE. then others are REAL BUSY! That is the reality we are facing in the modern world. We all need to set aside some time for the society. If I can't help OTHERS, then, what rights do I have to expect someone to help me when I am in trouble.

crime rates are increasing alarmingly...... I believe the changing social structure and preferences are proving to be a breeding ground for anti-social behaviour. the police force could very well contain this by introducing complex technology to create a network for alerting and curbing crimes. The bureaucratic influence should be kept at a minimum so that the police force can function at its highest efficiency.

Crime is absolutely controllable, and that can be done only by the government. One way to reduce it is to make the law more strict and the punishment more severe. People are not afraid of the punishment which is the main reason for the increase in crime rate. So the police and the government can control this by taking some strategic measures, like taking off his citizenship if he does any crime this will create a fear in him because he cannot live anywhere...... :)
