Incredible India advertisement has actually helped India to increase their tourism revenue by manifold. I will come back later with the exact data on revenue, but point I want to make is that India is a vast country with different weather, community, demography, economic conditions and sensibilities. We can't do infrastructure building and sustain it in one go. A business model has to sustain itself and grow and Incredible India campaign is a more a business model to earn foreign currency and generate lots of employmenet aooprtunity than just creating a beautiful facade of the country. While I agree with the point that India needs to do lot about the infrastructure, it still have a lot to attract the tourists. So, I am completely in favour of government using venues like Oscar and BAFTA to promote Incredible India.

I appreciate the government to taking the India destination to global people, common people of other nation. You need money and need to analyse the return of your money when you are investing. Same applies for the government. If they need to build the infrastructure, then need money and the visualize the ROI. This is important. A peoper planning is lacking for imprving the infrastructure, but when people start coming and flow of money, the things will improve. Hyderabad has turned its shape in last 10 years. It was advertised as tourist destinations and things are getting in place. Today is has ample places with adequate facilities for tourist to come and enjoy their visit and stay. One has to start to tell the people as everything is there in India as one destination. Long way to go.

Yes this is going to work according to me and as many of the places i have been to travellers have really liked their experience in India as a tourism destination, just for the fact that they find the country very diverse and there are new things to experience each day here, even without proper infrastructure in place is a bad idea to promote but then with ads doing the rounds in these popular events it will help the numbers increase and this will bring in the revenue required for the development for Indian tourism industry.

I don't think this will help for that matter, they might show all the brighter part of India as a Travel destination, but then India with such a huge portfolio of Travel destinations that is there, i don't think required infrastructure is there for tourists to come and enjoy their stay for that matter, and many times we are seeing tourists being attacked in tourist places, security is vulnerable in most of the destinations and with so many different cultures and regional barrier, for tourists every state or the other day he travels he finds himself in a new world for that matter, and this will create problem interms of communication and there are very few government recognised guides in the country and other private guides take tourists for a ride for that matter. This will have a negative impact as word of mouth will spread that this is the experience that they had when they visited and this will deter others who would want to travel to India.... I am not saying that it is bad to brand India in such a fashion, but then with basic things not in place & without proper infrastructure, they should not promote Incredible India in a huge manner which will surely backfire in the long run according to me....
