As now of course yes to your question. As Raju mentioned other small countries are picking up, so we need to be very competitive in terms of quality and skills. As in IT industry, we are slowly up skilling and grabbing the roles, SME or Solution Architect or BA, the back-office support should move towards building more SMEs capabilities to retain those jobs in India

We have the talent and we have the numbers now we need to include more skills (since we have the brains too) We have to go into more specialized operations like cloud computing, developing generic packaged systems research and development etc ..we are the perfect destination for outsourcing but lets not be humiliated into becoming call centers and data operators

Companies in India will have to be ready with technology and man power to receive Very Very specialized outsourcing work rather than usual Voice and/or data jobs as margins are on the decline in the current scope of work done in India.

Sure India is great destination for outsourcing considering all +ves described by Mr. Shankar. I am not sure how far or how long India will be able to stay competitive as there is more and more wage increase pressure, other countries are also getting ready to receive(if not already receiving) outsourcing work and The west may negotiating their deals even harder here and around the world to find cheaper and competitive alternatives somewhere else..

I would have agreed with this statement even 3 yrs back but not any longer. There are more cheaper destinations like Philippines who not only speak english but have a naturalised foreign accent. Also emerging are smaller countries like brazil and to an extent china where we are fuelling the IT boom ourselves.

Other countries are catching up fast with us - China, Philipines, Korea, etc. The back office operations are becoming more expensive in India. We have to go into more specialised operations like cloud computing, developing generic packaged software, implementations of specialised systems, research and development, etc.

Shankar a recent study has found that India is no-more cheaper destination for out sourcing Jobs. Philippines is slowly emerging as cheap and best destination. unless we develop writing software, mere body shopping & voice activities will not take us further.
