yes it is discrimination india does not faces a security challange from china as both countries have common economic goals.A lobby is working in the government which want to safeguard the interst of western companies at the cost of growth of the country.it will not only slow the growth in indian telecom industry but also lead to worse realtions with china.

THIS IS NOT A QUESTION OF GROWTH HERE ONLY FOR ONE COUNTRY.GROWTH MATTERS WITH SAFETY & SECURITY.India’s regulations to secure the country’s mobile networks have stirred a hornet’s nest in the US, Europe and japan .as per govt that all global gear makers, such as Nokia Siemens, Ericsson and Alcatel-Lucent, which manage and maintain networks of telcos here should employ only Indian engineers for local operations while adding that these firms would be given a 24-month deadline to comply. THIS WILL STOP THE GROWTH IF INDIAN GET CHANCE?

No. Not at all discriminatory, this is security concern not for chinese vendors but also for western vendors like nokia & ericsson.govt has asked all the vendors to submit there source codes with the condition that it will be only used in the case of emergency by the security concerns only. if they will fulfil the requirements than there will be no problem.

Not at all, it is high time we showed that we too mean business. Let the Chinese look inwards first before asking the world to treat it fairly. Let them open up their industry to foreign direct investment, let them stop sheltering the Yuan first and allow it to be dictated by world trade and then they can ask for fair treatment. If the above report is true, then it is time to salute our indian govt. on the bold step that they have taken. A step that even the US fears to take. Why should the chinese be treated fairly when they do not accord the same level treatment to rest of the world in china ?

I feel India should politically, economically, strategically not only bar Chinese companies but also should take every trivial steps to malign them geographically all over the world joining hands with like-minded countries.. That serves business,Politics and Nationhood all together :)

Sachin your point is valid but still am not supportive to the same ... I feel rather than blacklisting companies we need to improve upon ourselves in all areas. First of all, before inviting any Company to the Country for any biz activity we must be very careful and if we blacklist such Companies afterwards it shows that we are neglacting many areas. The growth is always with competition and hence it is always better to compete them in their ways rather than taking them out.

Discriminatory or not. Selective it surely is. Wherever we do not come to know or wherever we are helpless we pick chinese products without a problem. We tend to get sentimental about the issue without doing anything to correct the situation where we may be equally capable to equate on technology and its translates. Every third company in electronics and communication is sourcing from china while we are hesitant to even make beginning in manufacturing electronic products, is as much a truth.

Some of the Chinese products are unsafe and unhealthy to use. For example toys for childern from China contains lead beyond the priscribed limits this is harmful and effect children's health. so the Government India or for that matter any country has the right to stop such products.

No it is not discrimination. It is creating a security wall against a neighbour who is known to have behaved in a strange manner in the past. If we see the past of the chinese and the Chinese Govt. their behaviour has always been questionable to say the least. They support Pakistan openly who everybody knows is not a good neighbour to us. Recently they have allowed duty free imports from Nepal and Bangladesh which is going to hurt Indian exporters to these countries. India imports a good quantity of goods from them still is not given preferential treatment. So why they want a preferential treatment from us. They are at par to any foreign investor in India. And should be treated like that. That is all.

Sachin I am in agreement with you totally on this. Is chinese govt. is transperent on all the matters? They are not so Indian Govt holds the right to blacklist any company for that matter.

No. Not at all discriminatory. China is out to destroy India. The Chinese will definitely tap conversations of important people, especially politicians, businessmen, scientists, etc., and we wont even be aware of it. What they talk in India will be directly heard in Beijing. It will be against India's interest. Whatever said and done, China supports Pakistan and is surely India's Enemy. Also, they are communists and one must always be careful with these commies. And then, they would also use any and all technology in order to help the Maoists in India. You can reason out things with anyone in this world, but not the commies. And then, they want to occupy as much as Indian territory as possible. Hence, definitely NO to Chinese products and people.

The Chinese cell phone products are not maintaining Indian specification. The radio frequency allow access to the restricted frequencies. It has a serious threat even for the national security. Such products should be blacklisted till Indian specifications are implemented.

I don't think this is a discriminatory move people....There is a huge furore over this from China these days, and there was something fishy I guess, thats why Indian authorities have given the assurance that their new security regulations would be fair and transparent, and not discriminatory to Chinese companies. So, they didn't want discriminatory thing happening to Indian employees in these Chinese firms hence they have blacklisted as somewhat secret things were running behind these chinese firms in India, and the Indian government has every right to protect itself from security threats internally and externally as well...
