Solar energy is dependent on son so it is free but production technology for solar energy is back.It is not generated as demand so it should be classified for small villages and privet homes far from electrical source.Solar power from son is 2 watt per meter and latest solar panel can covert 16% of its impacted with solar rays.It is costly at present time.

India needs a good energy strategy, both a combination of Nuclear and Non-conventional sources. However, on the long run, it is the non-conventional energy that would help us be self sufficient as well as grow well. It is also good for the environment and health.

India should invest heavily in to developing any form of alternate energy sources OTHER than nuclear. Given the geographical location of this country on the globe....being tropical....solar should receive planty of support. It has been badly neglected in india except for solar water heaters. Even the implementation of solar water heaters is not as full fledged as it feels.

Solar is eternal and almost free. Nuclear is not all that clear, it has bad face. We shall not tamper nature. More than anything, we need a fair governance by patriots.

With the announcement of 'Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission' by Govt of India, for harnessing the power of sun,in 3 phases, till 2022,with phase 1 envisaging commissioning of 1100 MW of grid connected solar power projects,off-grid solar applications of 200 MW capacity & 7 mill sq.m solar collector area, India is poised in a big way towards abundantly available solar energy, with less dependence on external help, is the long term answer to India's energy needs !

India need solar energy only first it will help for keep the country in green, it's harmless, we don't beg US or Europe countries, every home we will use solar energy, even big industries also they make solar plant for power supply,

At present India is devloping country so energy for industries, agriculture, residents and other supporting units for developing need large amount of electric energy for faster growth.Nuclear is the best option for regional consumption and it provides for long time  supply without more feeding. It is pollusion free, byproducts generator and high tech.It is pure industrialisum so other supporting industries also come with nuclear technology. It provide high class educatinal employment so upgrades eduction level too.

This is most useful process to generate supply as demand for long term.Less wear and tear plus less maintainance expenditure.by products are also benefits. It can ecco friendly systerm.Nuclear plant is devided in tow section 1.Fusion.2. Fission.Intial cost is high and enrichment plant also its draw back.

Thanks for the referal Mr. Jagadeesan. According to the info available to me, Solar Energy costs anything between Rs.15-18 per unit and wind energy is Rs.5-8 energy. Where as hydro energy is the cheapest among the three, costing about Rs.2 per unit. Since we have excellent water resources, hydro energy is the best option according to me. I do not have info about Nucler Energy execpt that it is harmful to the local community. I stand corrected on this issue.

i agree solar energy is conventional source ..but a passive form energy unlike nuclear energy..which accounts to higher percentage of energy generation....India should be looking out for more nuclear plants setup for expansion.

India needs a huge amount of energy. It has to be deliverable from the source to the end-user. Solar Energy requires a large infrastructure - area wise. It is also one of the most expensive forms of energy available. Nuclear energy is one of the cheaper options available. India is one of the world's pioneers in fuel reprocessing. We are also one of the world's leaders in breeder reactors. We have the world's largest source of Thorium. Our experience in breeder reactors and fuel reprocessing that we are acquiring will help us in the utilisation of the Thorium.

India needs huge amount of energy MW in 2012, 60000 in 2020, this cannot be possible through solar plants , the nuclear waste can be controlled through various equipments and afforestation , this cost cannot be huge to fullfilled the requirement of our country
