Bangalore-based digital publisher EC Media International on Thursday launched its multi-function e-book reader Wink that not only supports 15 languages but will also offer over 200,000 book titles on debut.

Wink will offer consumers a one-stop e-store to access e-reading content of choice via www.thewinkstore.com that would enable access not just to e-books, but also journals, newspapers, magazines and selected articles. And wink will be competing against Amazon's kindle & Apple's Ipad which also has a e-reader quotient in them.  So, what do you think people, Will India's first e-reader wink will be successfull?

I think it will be successfull, today there are many people who are anticipating things to come from India, as India has produced some really good things for cheap price but has not compromised on quality of the stuff, so this e-reader wink can be a    quite handy for many, it can transform learning in schools with so many books in one e-reader, though kindle is a success world over, there is space left for many such e-readers as consumers would like some choices when they for these in future, they have entered Indian market at the right time, as e-books have just got a slow momentum.

As the market is huge, there is a high probability of the market supporting multiple e-readers and Wink being an Indian product will have a higher probability of being used in the Indian markets. If the features meet the market requirements, then there is a high probability that it will be used extensively......

Yes, I am in favour of Wink (indian Products), It will be successful.
but it is trend not to (/least) use indian products, even there is Notion Inc's Adam Tablem PC is to be launched soon, there product is very innovative, & having some patents. being an indian i would like to support indian product

now a days the quality of indian products is rising.
Wishing great success to Wink & also Adam tablet PC.

Hi,

This will be success in metros.  If we think of a PAN india presence, then costs plays an important role in impleting this e-reader everywhere.  There is certainly a digital divide in this country, where we still talk about power scarcity in many villages across the country.  Hence if we have to think of introducing E-reader, first we have to have sound infrastructre like power, affordability, reachability etc.

But we should atleast work towards inventing something new..which will enhance our reading habit, education system, and will definitely end up for a greener planet.

Wink supporting 15 Indian languages is a good news but when it will have compete with brands like kindle and iPad the cost will play a major role. The cost is not that interesting to go for it. The premium users will anyway buy this but in comparison with Kindle and iPad I don't think it will perform satisfactorily.
