Agree with Isha, just adapting to some one's success formula doesn't guarantee success in your venture too. The growth model to be followed should match our requirement, resource and plan.

The key to India's success will be "not to follow China's example and be on it's own". India's growth may appear slow (compared to China), but it is real. It happens after all the discussions, democratic process. But when it happens, it is accepted by all sections of society. It promises sustainability. China has been smarter to exploit the world situation to her advantage. Follow this example : When carbon credit system came up, (Kyoto protcol), the factories came up overnight in China, which do not produce anything, but earn millions of dollars in carbon credit. Such policies bring short term benefit. But they can not sustain for long time. Moreale of the story. India will do itself a favour by not looking at China.

We should certainly learn from others who are doing better than us. However , if we are convinced that we are on the right path , and that others who are doing better , are not on the right path , then we should not ape them. In this case China's growth has been based on dictatorship , or at least an authoritarian government , with scant respect for human rights. We should not follow in their footsteps. Time will show that China's policies are wrong.

If we realy wish to adopt something from china, than it is patriotism, courage, free from corruption and strong administration, otherwise nothing to learn from them. These are core practices which needs to incorporate in our model. Our economy model is one of the best in the world, leads to steady and strong growth. Except some bad habits we are through. Because of corruption we are 20 years back than China and other world developed countries.... otherwise we would be far better then them.
