I meet a lot of people in the Biopharmaceutical industry ( some very reputed manufacturers as well). I am amazed at their archaic practices in screening, charactrization, early stage development and QC measures practiced which is critical in this industry. Their general lack of clarity in the required workflows even for some very critical biomolecules is clearly evidant and a very scary prospect.

I now view the locally manufactured " cost effective alternatives" very suspeciously. These guys are happy to work the way they are becouse they cater to only Domestic (Indian) and Third World markets and are happy to be meeting the minimum requirements set by WHO.

We are a decade or two behind the quality standards adopted by Western manufacturers. When is the Indian Biopharma industry going to be globally competitive?

Archaic practices adopted. No clear guidelines in place for the industry to follow. India just follows the old guidelines set by West ( which is currently being renewed by them). Not familiar with recent tools and techniques adopted by industry in West.

Current quality of products offered in India is acceptable to developing markets-No one is complaining!!
