indian education reforms :-a leap forward or two step backwards

reforms like introducing grade point system and abolishing board exams ,that are meant to reduce mental burden of students who tend to commit sucide, for either  not being able to perform upto parents expectations or surving the competition .furthermore compulsory education for all children(which cannot be objected but its implemntation would be foreseeble event ).the moot point, is whether it will help the education  scenerio when country like US asking its students to emulate there counterparts in india and china  and situation would get grimmer.
