After IT outsourcing, it's now " pregnancy outsourcing" which is on the rise in India. Childless couples and singles, especially from the United States, Europe and some eastern Asian countries are looking to India in a hope -- to become parents. Indian surrogate mothers are in big demand. A surrogate mother is one who gets paid for carrying babies of other couples who can' t conceive on their own either due to health constraints or age.

http://surrogatemothers.org/images/surrogate_mother/surrogate_mother_250x251.jpg

Surrogacy is developing into a kind of profession albeit for a short term as no woman in India can opt to be a surrogate mother more than thrice in her lifetime. Apart from Delhi, Mumbai in Maharashtra and Anand in Gujarat are fast emerging as hubs for surrogate mother agencies and IVF clinics in India. The reasons for India emerging as a favorite destination for surrogacy are many.

So users, do you think India should allow this rising demand of surrogancy?

This is giving a boost to medical tourism in India wherein foreigners can come here see around the places and can benefit from low-cost and world-class medical. According to Indian Council of Medical Research, commercial surrogacy will grow into 6 billion U.S. dollar business per-year industry from its present 445 million U.S. dollar-a-year business. So, I think this field can be permitted by Indian government.

there r so many innocent childrens without parents if they are so curious to become parent and make their dream true lets first adopt that children and than think of surogate indian mothers, and does nature alllows this i think no,also if we are going against nature why we should entertain western people in this regards and they are this postions because what ever the culture they have adopted is they are paying for that ,the postion is they are unable to become parents, rather they shud adopt a child now lets pay for their own deeds by adopting the child, rather doing another crime against nature.

IVF (In Vitro Fertilization) that is popularly known as "Test Tube Baby" is a tech where normally infertile couple may get blessed with parenthood. When mother's womb is incapable of carrying a baby for nine months for so many reasons they take the help of surrogate mothers.

If you know any couple who doesn’t have a child, ask them, and then try understand their feeling… I don’t have words beyond this. You can argue for adoption of a child, yes good. Give a choice to 100 people to have own child or to adopt a child and see their choices!

The infertility ratio is growing day by day. There are developed nations now worried about their decreasing population!

On the other hand we still see a mother having four, five, six and even more children. Surrogate mothers are kept under medical care and have better health after delivery. This is pious job and yes has taken the shape of business…

When you offer Pooja also and you are charged for it…

Dear Anita Ji EXCELLENT DEBATE....... I fully endorse your opinion, but unfortunatly in India people always criticies when some thing good happens , with a tendency to cry on behalf of culture & ethos. I feel people should adapt the advansement & oppurtunity.

I have one big question for the men and women participating in this debate. Will any of the women be willing to be a surrogate mother? Will any of the men agree to their mothers(young men), sisters or wives be a surrogate mother?

Money rules the world but will anyone sell their soul for money?

My comment here will not make a difference to this debate but I still want to put in my 2 cents.

As I have mentioned in previous debates I am not a born Indian but still follow the life of an Indian women to an extent because of ancestral background. I am finding it very funny that there are Indian women who are willing to be surrogate mothers for financial gains. I have read the actual article on this debate and was rather surprised. I personally think Indian women should not follow the paths of other foreign women. I see this whole business as 'renting your womb and selling a part of your soul'. As a woman I will not do this for even a million USD.

The so called developed countries will outsource everything from the developing countries and keep them still under them. Leave apart this , India being a place where poverty is the rule of the day, especially in Mumbai, they will be willing to become surrogate mothers. But what happens to the nutrition status of that surrogate mother when she actually conceives through her wed lock. Then for obvious reasons the offspring will have problems and in the long run and India has to face this additional problem, not enough we are facing problems of Under five mortality rates, malnourishment etc...

Of course it is very noble to help someone get a kid but if all the after effects are taken care of, not only pertaining to physical health but also emotional.

In india we should not influence by west culture always, we should accept only those thing which should not harm to our emotions,

Everey body can become parent without surrogate mother too, couple can adapt a child and genes are not every thing, what we are giving to the growing child is also very importan.
