Indigenous manufacturing of Telecom H/W & S/W decision: better late than never.

Remote access to the operating system and database by the

supplier/manufacturer for operation and maintenance purpose,

is a mandatory technology requirement.

As far as the equipment and software are imported, the country is open to great security risk.

The only wayout is to develop local manufacturing capability, if necessary with local companies tying up with foreign manufacturers.  Like what China did, government should have insisted for technology transfer along with opening out of Indian Telecom to private players.

Goverrnment decision though late, is in the right direction. Vs Not much practical; and can also delay telecom growth.

Government should be firm to make it happen.

It has multiple benefits, in the area of security,

saving of foreign  exchange, earning foreign exchange

from exports, anciliary industries, employment generation etc,.

The current decision is therefore, more than welcome,

even at the risk of a temporary slow down in telecom

growth because of this government stipulation.

Hope ITI and other telecom manufacturing companies

will be able to meet the challenge, in terms of technology,

quality, quantity and price, unlike the dismal experience,

in all above counts with the old time ITI.

Yes!Instead of opening up the gates and getvulnerable to the security risk it's better to encourage local manufacturing!Or else as Mr.Abraham said ,we shud follow the same as China did to transfer the tachnology also so that localy we  can monitor instead of manufacturing company sitting outside the country logging in to the Operating system and databse thus posing the greater security risk to the country.
