Even though it is still in the speculation stage. But, she is one of the top names in an imagined list of candidates qualified to lead the country’s oldest and most global conglomerate because of her Indian roots and international profile, Ms Nooyi, 55 is the best candidate to take the CEO position after Mr. Ratan Tata who has converted the brand Tata from a salt-to-software Tata group.

Why not ! she can bring in the global expertise that she has gained in managing a diverse conglomerate like Pepsi and its huge network. She would definitely bring the much needed dose of professionalism into indian business not to forget the coming era wherein mergers and acquisitions would play a positive role.

This Indian born & educated lady who has seen the strategy & visions of global companies very far & wide , can be a suitable incumbent to TATA GROUP. Undoubtedly, her democratic style of leading business will attract Indian employees & Business men. But, it is a thousand dollar question," Can TATA offer the package that she gets now?".

Firstly , I don't think anyone can answer that question of 'BEST' as i think only few can understand the kind of talent required to run such a large conglomerate . Her stint at J&J, BCG , ABB and finally Pepsi has proved a point about her to clinch deals , to give the right direction to company growth in terms of market capitalization and brand differentiation. These however just forms a part of the brand 'Tata' . I feel the biggest hurdle for Tata is to find someone who have a politically correct/powerful but at the same time being a people person . In addition to all this the connect Tata has with Indian nationals in terms of their contribution for the development of the country is something no other brand in India can think of. In one word. This is one question that should be asked to a few and taken opinion from a fewer for people who can gauge the magnitude such talents are very few. I remember one of the quotes about Tata group - ' Business cycles may change but class is forever ' This is one brand that can rival any brand across the world for the level of popularity and respect it has earned from its people.

She is a good candidate for the position based on her extensive industry exposure, Indian background and core skills in management. However, there is no specific reason for her to be the only suitable candidate. There are various candidates for this role (internal and external) and the Board will make the decision based on the final evaluation of the candidate.

Thanks for the referral, Natteraja.....
