India is one of the countries having a very strong and efficient central bank. The Govt. and RBI are very efficient in formulating policies to contorl inflation.

Govt. has started taking steps towards it though they are not enough. but the major reason for inflatory prices is the supply shock in the domestic market specially food supply and increase in the crude oil prices outside India which is not in the control of the govt. The dilemma of the govt. how to decrease the infaltion as well as maintain the a sustainable economic growth. The industry wants the govt. to continue with the fiscal stimulus but the govt. has to decrese the aggregate demand. So the the upcoming budget is going to have hard look on the subsidies, less expansion plans as we have seen in recent times that RBI incresed the Repo n reverse Repo And the prime focus would be to Increase the agricultural productivity to meet the supply shock.

there is never decrease in production in commodities but the rate with which population is increases unable to meet the demand on the other hand corruption has really affected it so it is a responsibility of common people as well as government to resolve it

I think that it is trying. A lot also depends on other factors, including private citizens. If we stop buying goods where prices were artificially inflated, then prices will fall.

I agree with what Amrita said. Govt do their best to tackle any such situation such as scrapping import duties on edible commodities banning export of essential goods....likely increase in interest rates....all these measures are taken by govt to improve the conditions of common people....govt is doing their bit to control the price range.. and again increase in quatity of money has being occuring throughout.

I stick with AMRITA,more-over,govt can restrict the situation once it goes worsen & that to up-to a certain extent,AS govt can not predict the"population","inflation"& bla-bla-bla. we can only comment & argue, but the real work is done by the diplomats.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) chief said that the country is facing surging inflation and it needs to calibrate monetary policy in order to manage inflation and also support growth. Is it really possible?

Now the creativity is at work. Reduce the weightage of vegetables and food items in the inflation index and add items like refrigerators and airconditioners to tweak the inflation index to show it is moderating. The day the indexes are not tweaked to fool the public we will get a clear picture. Time for independent agencies coming out with their own inflation indexes and prove the govt index is nonsense

No.

Simply because honest hardworking citizen continue to have to bear the cost of their part of wasteful as well as expanded cost increases, so that those involved in (MIS-)Governance remain insulated from all inflationary effects.

On the other hand their share of creamy slice gets even more enhanced through increased share through middlemen in trade.

i read almost everyone who are in support and aslo who feels the government is incapable. i wanna make just one statement that their is no government who is incapable of making the things in favor of public. The main problem is with every individual's thought process. Just giving your opinion on a social networking site and commenting about the corruption level with corrupt politicians is quite easy. We all know that our system is badly effected by corruption from top to bottom. I want to ask to all my peers and viewers that what you would be doing while sitting on the place of those politicians. My intention is not to hurt anyone but are we all strong enough to talk about ethics and social welfare. Did we ever imagine that if we got an chance of managing more than 1000 crores and at the same time social justice, what we would choose. from my prospect we all should accept that in todays era most probably we all had killed our feeling of human touch. if you or even me got a chance to enjoy money at the cost of society welfare, are we strong enough to take a unbiased decision. we have mass production capacity, if things could move in a proper channel then their shouldn't be any problem like inflation. we all know the truth. if things have to be really changed then it depends on the future and current generation which would probably take the charge of all judicial buildings in future. i am saying this because me and you together cant change anything in the system. so its time to make our grounds really strong where we could enjoy the resources not alone but with the whole society. new team in the system with strong ethical feel could only be the way of making any difference. and it lot depends on time, patience and determination. lastly, if i hurt somebody unintentionally, apology. my intention is not to criticise anyone, it was just to put my point and my thought of solution.

Indian Corporates are investing outside, this Government is doing nothing simply satisfying their own constituencies with shuffling the cabinet once in a while, they have no regret for what they are doing. The main culprit is Sharad Pawar. Vilasrao Deshmukh who was involved in the "housing scam" got away with a cabinet berth. It is a mockery of Democracy. The best way is to boycott the political system of India. I never voted and I will never ever and that is my pledge.

The Govt and specially a good human being like Dr.M Singh is not contributing to making the system independent or outside political control. This has resulted in no conviction of people in power and culture flows top down resulting in all and sundry being corrupt.

Amrita I am sorry I don't agree with you. Even if any thing is done the prices are going high and higher. It will not pinch them with fat pay and perks but think of a common man and his plight.

Inflation means rise in price of commodities. This may happen due to- - low production, - high demand, - artificially created crisis. Policies are undertaken by the Govt. officially. But implementation of the policy needs sincerity & commitment from, the Govt. & it’s machineries. Economists say “Inflation is unjust, but, Deflation is antisocial”. So, Govt. needs to take care of many more important jobs, which in turn will take care of inflation automatically. And in the global concept, it is more imp., whether Purchasing-Capacity of customers is increased. And heavy penalties & exemplary punishment should be enforced for creating artificial crisis of essential commodities like Onion . We are more concerned & effected by the level of our purchasing-capacity, rather than by devaluation of currency, termed as “Inflation”.

The government has to evaluate the resources effectively. As i saw that petrol price is rise too much and also the basic needs also.... The government has to make survey and try to cumulate the things accordingly so that the public will not be effected by this inflation.

No, Nothing is doing by govt. i would like to say ki govt itself is responsible for the Inflation. No proper decision is taking. Only they show that they are doing. I think there is No control on Buffer Stock. So, govt should take good decisions. Now lets see on 24th Jan RBI Policy what they take decisions.

The Govt. is failing to answer the inflation. It seems UPA is failing to control the Market forces. The prices are soaring not because of dearth in supply. Any artificial scarcity is being created by the market forces and Govt. is failing to fight this. However good your policies may be, when you lacks control on the market these things do happen.

I agree with you but thing is that how efficiently government is managing available resources and what about the available food grains which are becoming stale due to inefficient distribution channel...

it is government responsibility to distribute it properly.

Entire hoarding and price manipulation is done by traders with active support from netas/babus. Everyone knows who are to be blamed. Why there is no action in opposition ruled states on the price front? It is clear that all are involved in the loot

The government of India is doing very much to tackle the inflation but it would be inappropriate to say that these measures are enough. Onion prices doubled in recent days, leading to a popular outcry and putting the government on the defensive over its failure to ease rising food prices. Despite several meeting are held and various talks are going for the tacklement of hike in inflation. Government also failed considerably to control the hike in fuel prices. Therefore I think that there's something more should be done in order to control the inflation rate in the economy. The polices of import-export should be modified. There's something more to be done on this part.
