Powered by intellect and Driven by VALUES..

WHERE DID THE VALUES GO MR. MURTHY??

No one and nothing is fair. Everyone does wrong somewhere . Everyone goes against ethics. There are alot of aspects that I have known which go against company's reputation but this one is huge. When you talk about transparency, leadership by example, integrity you should follow it first.

The Income Tax Department has slapped a tax demand of over Rs 450 crore on software giant Infosys Technologies for wrongfully claiming tax exemption on onshore services by declaring them as software exports, Parliament was informed today.

Onshore software development is the practice wherein Indian companies send their software engineers on short assignments (3-6 months) to companies based in Europe, the US, and other nations.

So where do ethics stand??

If you are doing something wrong you should atleast not claim to be clean. I must tell you that many trainees are commiting suicide at mysore campus and no step is taken to take care of it. There is lot of wrong going on and still to keep company's reputation strong they just don't let the things out. C-life which they follow isn't "fair" at all. All they care is about profit, money.. They don't even care about their employees. Involving in such a huge scandal is shameful for the company! Ethics are not to be just talked about. They are to be followed!!

Please know it in detail, as they are doing it for betterment of our people & this incidence happened due to an objection taken by U.S.govt, as they are not getting any tax from Infosys , as Infosys are paying salaries in Indian currency, though the work is given by U.S. companies. Ethics shall be followed , but are we follow it on daily basis? A simple answer is no, so it's better to get the correct information first, than criticizing anybody.

Most laws are made with lots of scope for interpretation -deliberately. This breeds corruption and blackmail by the babus and Indian Industry has been suffering from this menace of interpretation and blackmail since Independence. Industry bodies spend lots of time seeking clarification and modifications thus wasting their energies rather than concentrating on growth and progress.

In case of Infosys it may be another instance of vagueness in the law which leads to disagreement and litigation.

Reference:http://www.friesian.com/bureau.htm will make an interesting reading. The British method of keeping the ministers ignorance of multitude of laws and rules so that the bureaucrats have all the fun.

Ethics shall be followed. It should be for all. If corporates will not pay tax? How the developement will take place in the country. Now things are coming in the open that big corporation are also indulging in bad practices to secure buisnesses and get profited at cost of Government and common man. We must create a environment where Corporations behave responsibally But this can be done by holding the Rule of the Law. Ragrding suicides of trainees there should be proper working envirionment and companies should declare thier policies regarding this. I am told even Medical leave is also not allowed during training in some software companies.
