Infosys and TCS are among the top 100 global outsourcing companies and these two leading Indian IT companies are set to lead the IT world globally. These companies remain to be hopes and support for atleast 3 lakh Indians directly and many other indirectly.

The thing is that they compete in the same area, they have many common clients, they do a lot of similar work but these two are totally different in the way they work, their policies, the way they see the clients/employees, the way they handle projects. And I always had a feeling that strategically these companies are very different and they have taken divergent paths to excel. Let us not only discuss on Salary, Work culture, Work pressure etc but also pour in your thoughts from Business, Financial and Valuation perspective.

The road ahead for these companies is strategically different and 'who wins' and 'who looses' is the game to watch. Thanks.

Figues or count never matters. What matters is 'Employee satisfaction', 'Quality work' and 'security of the job to some extent'. I go for Infosys.

I strongly feel TCS is much better than Infosys. It is the first Indian IT Company to cross 50,000 employee force. TCS is largest companyt  in terms of work force and has more clients than Infy.TCS is a process oriented company.

Oh really - That's why TCS calls employees forcefully to client locations when Kasab was burning Mumbai. Don't talk about the process policies etc. etc. . Even for the day like that TCS left its employees to travel in local train in Mumbai when there was alert.. Who didn't turned up were called as coward - can u believe it? If client satisfaction is important, why TCS didn't planned for BC activity... Go and check the reality Sir.

Anyone for retirement will chose TCS - why not for doing work which can be done by 10 people TCS deploys 40. So the work load automatically decrease by 75%. What else is required for a person leaving TCS after 3-4 years then working for 10 years in another companies to earn money, get onsite, give the most efficient time and tenure to another companies and when the time comes for settling down and meditation they come back to settle down - so that they will get time to play with their childrens :)

If TCS is so global in its product export can you name 10 products of TCS which created history or changed the way how software industry works?

Also i was wondering if TCS gives discounts on Tata Salt and Tata Tea - let me know if you can collect the information.

Please do remember TCS is a Tata Group company Infosys is a Software company - how could you common sense allow you to compare things like that.

if you want to compare please give some points which really proves TCS has done something which made not only TCSer but Country glad... Ofcourse Infosys will be looking forward to follow that just like TCS followed GDM of Infosys. isn't it ?

How can you assume that when it comes to Infosys people always think of NRN. It's better to not to talk about the leaders and their capabilities at this stage, it's so early to comment on their capabilities.

Do you think the employees who leave company for increments and onsite changes their attitude when they switch companies - BIG NO ...

TCS has also not given promotions for quite long time... Can you answer what happened to TCS that time ? I will suggest you to go to HR department (Separation) you will see bundles of resignations in TCS too ... Can you answer Why So ?

Infosys is not made up of Mr. NRN - If you know the history. NRN was not the only one who worked till his last date of tenure to add every brick of success of Infosys.

Agree that Infosys suffered multiple setbacks when he concluded his 1st inning. Every transition faces issues because the changes in business policy or strategy changes with leader. It's not always expected that everything will go positive in business - mean it. It's very obvious and can be seen at ground level how a project suffers for some time when any senior associate gets release from project.

This phase always comes for any company/business.

Doesn't matter TCS crossed 50000 employees first, Infosys also has many tangible and intangible achievements in being first - need not to be listed here.

TCS strategy and Infosys strategy of doing business typically looks same but the differences are in professionalism and the discipline within the organization right from the lowest level contributors.

I have worked in both organizations and can definitely measure how the things works in both companies.

Wondering to hear only TCS is process oriented - which process is exclusive in TCS which is not there for any XYZ companies - On paper and for clients "process" word sounds do definitive but in ground reality it's not - This is equally true for most of the service based companies in India - wondering if awarded CMM levels  actually remains consistent all the period in companies.

Certainly being large is not enough to justify the greatness - justify with some really distinguished facts.

The monopoly is bad for the employees. Neither only TCS should grow nor only Infosys. Both should grow in a competitive way and they should value employees. A good company is that where "Employees are equally treated as clients" If a company looses a good employee, it looses a good client. Just compare a company as a freelancer website. What does a company do, provide the job of client to employees. If the company take up all of the share and employee don't get anything the freelancing site will not work. Employee will leave that site and find other, client will not find employee and leave the freelancing site. So, conclustion: "Retain employee, retain client". Take profit which is needed and provide sufficient to the employees. This may retain both clients and employees.

TCS and Infosys both of them are good at their own place. We can't make a comparison between them. As we all know that TCS which is a TATA group is running and known for their ethics but we never forget Mr. Narayan Murthy, who had done lot for the country and he also treat their employees like a friend.

I believe Infy is better because Infy is only a IT organization and there main aim is just to promote IT and they way they handle it is superb where TCS being a part of the TATA group is just another way of bussiness for them.

For a fresh graduate i think Infy is the best as ir provides you with a best platform to learn things as a starter.

Infy is undoubtebly different from all its competitors in the same field. The way a fresh graduate is groomed and  motivated to work for differentiation only creates the difference. Also at infosys graduates from other streams also get there bread and butter that too with high satisfaction and care too.

In my life first i heard about infy as best IT firm. But later due to retirement of narayana murthy - a legend infy became sinking ship and again it raised again due to him.I don't know what the others are doing. In this context TCS-Administration and talent de centralized as a team TCS grew in this Industry.

I support TCS for its tremendous and remarkable change last 10-15 years

Definitely i'll go for TCS. In the field of Job security, job satisfaction, TCS is much better than infy. Who are supporting infy, they are only talking about Narayan Murthy, but one organization can not stand in market through one man army. Some outstanding minds are needed for this, which TCS have. FYI in FY12 Infy haven't given any hike to employees, so many emps are leaving this company. In case of TCS situations are far better than Infy.

ONE SHOULD HAVE A WHOLISTIC APPROACH

It is very difficult to say which one is better than the other, specially when they are giant corporations and respected the world over. They both have best of talent, best of policies, best of clients, best of employee satisfaction and retention programs, best of the package. So just can not comment which one is better. and sometimes the employees move between the two companies :-)

Employees are at the core of any organization and are best brand ambassadors. It is only natural to have employee dissatisfaction in both the companies. But this can not declare the other one the winner. There could be people who are benched, or bad supervisor or work timings or dressing issues. We need to understand the context behind those few cases of employee dissatisfaction and how to make the work experience much better.

So I would say the company which is striving hard to identifying and addressing the factors of employee dissatisfaction would be the best one.
