Innovation a Key word which Buzzes around the corporate world . Any Business Entity which focuses on Growth , Never mind where the Innovation coming from , until it holds good for the business . Innovative Owner will hold good only when the team is equally productive & sensible to catch up his ideas , thus the idea of Innovative Firms hold good as in such a firm the Owner remains Innovative as well as the Team , thus more free flow of communication is also ensured whereas innovative owner might fall of the expectations of his team sometimes . While taking the Fortune 500 List of companies , Apple , Google , Berkshire Hathaway , Johnson & Johnson , Amazon .com , P&G etc We will find why Innovative Firm hold touch good over Innovative Owners , Present Day Business is all About TEAM WORK .

Innovation is key to technology adoption and creation and to explaining the vast differences in productivity across and within countries. A study conducted by the Deutsche Post Foundation has found a relationship between innovative firms and innovative owners. The study covered 2800 firms in Sri Lanka and the focus of the study was on innovative firms and innovative owners (2009). Thus, firm size is found to have a stronger positive effect, and competition a stronger negative effect, on process and organizational innovations than on product innovations. Owner ability, personality traits, and ethnicity are found to have a significant and substantial impact on the likelihood of a firm innovating, confirming the importance of the entrepreneur in the innovation process. Thus, innovative firms and innovative owners are closely coupled and one without the other does not lead to significant improvements. However, what is more important is that if there is more competition, the incentive for undertaking innovation is reduced........ Amit, thanks for the referral.... Owners are hardly innovative... they just know where to put in venture capital! Innovation comes from the team, the leader who has the convincing skill. for the firm to sustain, it is the management and its vision and mission and its ability to fight bad times, prosper in good times and flexibly change with time.

This age belongs to collective efforts, team work etc. Although genius inventors are still phenomena happening sporadically, until put to an organised process structure of the likes of a firm, the innovation might not see the fruits ultimately.

Today in any sector technological advancement has made it necessary for collaboration. This is the era of innovative owners. We played with clay bricks now its molecules we are moving into the age of nano technology; we are touching manipulating reorganizing molecules, you need innovative owners who have vision, can draw up a team, today firm is Innovative if owner is innovative, this is my experience the reason western firms succeed, they have the resource and dedication, they don’t give in or give up. They have quality everywhere, they create it, move it to the next level. We talk, talk and talk the month ends we get s a l a r y. We manage a naukri (job) and then run after a chukri (girl), get into baby booming, we switch jobs for higher LPA (lac per annum) we write blogs!!! We are Indians.

Innovative means doing the things very differently. Making the works successfully without any bodies expectations or fore thinkings. Innovative Firms always for the Name Plate only limited unless their managers work in a innovative direction the names itself not suits as its heading is.

Mr. Badri, Thanks for highlighting the survey result & make us know of the result. But, the extension & application of result can not be applied to other countries. The field of study, as you highlighted here, took Sri Lanka only. Field application differ on the Globe. So, generalization can not provide us a right thinking & a path to acceptable result. Mainly, the human IQ & GEOGRAPHICAL POSITIONING of the country place a vital role. If I am not wrong, we need to analyze the conducive elements that enables these results. Thanks for the supplimentry information.

To be innovative is very necessary in life,innovative firm is only thn can be sucessfull if have innovative owner,wat the team do if the owner is not innovative,to use others brain for sucess of a firm depends on the owner.Take example of ambani ,its very easy to start and invest in retail and hire innovative team but still not able to use their brains and no innovation is there.
