Interview should be taking direct personal interview or it require written test. Because especially big company and in banking sector the scenario is going written test. Each and every bank are taking written test in selection process.

 It is lengthy process in bank and also time consume, which should mor convinent for selection process (1) Written test + PI (2) Direct PI......

Direct personal interview will create a big problem because there are so many candidates and taking personal interview afor each and everyone is not possible. The mehtod has been adapted for filtration of candidates and has proved good enough. A person should ahve good logic, reasoning and interpretation capabilities as well as good grammar for which written tests are conducted.

Talking about a Company, while hiring employee, sometimes conduct Written test and PI and sometimes just PI..Here I would say that just a "written test is just a wastage of time and money, As you can never judge a candidate's aptitude from a written test. It is just not that reliable also. As only after his joining you can understood his potential and skills, an influential PI would be enough to serve the purpose , if taken by a Competent Man with excellent judging skills. But giving the test on common platform on National Level is not a bad idea.. I have come across an Aptitude test, ie "AIMA-MAST" Management Aptitude and Skills test which is going to get organised by AIMA Organisation, a well known organisation that conducts MAT "MBA Entrance"4 times in a year. If this process gains popularity, then no company has to put extra efforts to conduct any written test on their own.

every co shud make written test compulsory, u cant judge someone programming skills in just oral interview, if someone is strong and good, will not be talking against it

checking apptitude is no use, if a guy is BE OR BTECH OR MBA, he might hv cleared his apptitude first, PI is the best way to judge talent becoz he didnt. hv to work practically with apptitudes, his confidence,communication , dedication will work .

However much skilled the interviewer might be, there is always an element of subjectivity/human element creeping into the PI process. There is a high likelihood that the interviewer gets carried away by the appearance, habits etc. of the candidate and take a wrong decision. Halo effect, Horn effect, Order error etc. are the terms used in HR for such judgement errors. Having a written test would act as a complement to the PI and would strengthen the decision making process. It also helps in weeding out candidates who are not up to the mark.

I agreed with your points. Written test will help out employers to select the most suitable candidates for the job. It will save his time as well as it will also help him to judge the knowldege of the person.

Hey,

The question be re-framed. It should be pointed to selection process for employment and not for Interview. Because, normally, filtered candidates come for Interview.

Today industry is looking for strategy and attitude. Every MNC want to boost their revenues very quickly. In order to achieve their targets, will power of a candidate can be known only after he/she is exposed to the problems. Written-tests are very old formats. Instead GD+PI should be considered.

I would prefer direct personal interviews with other document proofs of the candidates. Written tests are used as a tool for screening the candidates where more number of applicants participated for less number of jobs. Thanks for the referral Mr.Virag Shah.

PI is the way to find out a great talent,The method for filtration of candidates is so bad to hear..so that i hate HR policy in India,, what are the main purpose of HR?? Filtration or garb a good candidate.. i don't think so that HR has no time,, i have seen a lot..

Direct PI can help in judging the candidates knowledge, etc. Specific written test should be for judging the candidate suitability for very specific job requirement in which the candidate has to write/type something (such as designing, writing ad slogans, editing, translating, correcting technical text, checking accounts).

Direct personal interview is better process of selection. It can require written test, computer test, voice over english (BPO sec.) only as per job profile need. Otherwise Personal interview is good method, it can judge many thing from personal interview.

It can be happen that a candidate is fail in written test but overall he is good. So, he loose from the written test however he is good. You can directly ask each and every type question, it can also possible personal interview can conduct 2 or 3 round.... Direct personal interview is good for selection process as compared to written test..
