iphone 4 on the verge of product Recall: Will this have an impact on iphone as a brand??

The latest buzz in the tech circle is Apple's iPhone 4 antenna design is flawed. Consumer Reports is only the latest publication to complete a battery of testing and declare what other reviewers have discovered as well: holding the phone a certain way causes repeatable reception problems that, in weaker signal areas, can lead to dropped calls.

Only people who are staying in a good reception network area can get proper calls, if not how dramatically a hand over the bottom left corner of the phone can affect signal quality in the first test, and then the voice drops off completely.  And people are saying there will be a recall of iphone 4 of sorts with these problems, and a product recall will be endangering other apple products in a way.  So, what do you think people with iphone 4 on the verge of product recall, will this have an impact on iphone as a brand?? share your views on this....

I think yes it will have an impact for that matter, a product recall means something has gone horribly wrong, its brand image gets tarnished, but still the fanboys the loyalists of these phones don't seem to care there is an issue at all, an iphone user, was waiting for this iphone 4 in the year end, but now with product recall I am a bit  sceptic about going for this phone now, and in a way it will have some impact to other iphone of theirs and also their products, now every one will be testing the Apple products to see where the shortcomings are there, as till now everybody was in awe of iphone, this is the first major incident that is to happen if there is an recall, if their antenna is not working properly, the sole criteria of the phone which is used to communicate will be lost and if there is no proper reception then basic necessity of a phone will be lost, be it a Nokia 1100 or a iphone 4 for that matter, so yes there will be a huge impact, we saw what happened when there was a product recall from Honda and Toyota earlier this year with their cars......

The worst thing that happens in business is when you start some thing and have then to shut it, recall the product. People tend to lose trust, as any thing is judge  by their past records. Even if any thing has a flawless record, we tend to remember one small mistake or wrong doing. I think this recalling of iphone will have a negative impact on its products.

It shows that apple is in little bit hurry in launching iphone 4 for getting edge over others, but if product recall happens then it will certainly impacts on it's brand image.

Consider the senario. Android camp is doing its best to counter an enormous launch from Apple.  . Observe the agine Apple’s competitors who are introducing feature packed, big screen devices that are powered by hefty processors. There is the recent joint annponcement by Motrola Verizon and Google. We also hear that that T-Mobile is launching and  Samsung bundled with app like Amazon Kindle with 4-inch screen and EPIC 4G for the Sprint with 4-inch AMOLED screen, 5 megapixel camera with front-facing camera for video conferencing and more. It will be interesting to see if the  growing number of feature-packed and powerful phones will be able to stop the iPhone 4 offensive. Then again. It could also be a repeat of Ipod?.

In India; I phone failed badly during its launch and lost its gleem because it targeted premium segment who is by large not price consious. MOreover along with its lauch; blackberry too launched storm and javellin which were far higher in features and brand. Now I-phone should stay dormat for some time untill it gets something real good to hit the market with and re-hit the market with a proper MIS on the market. Earlier launch probably was not a well planned one.

given the fact the company is Apple :) , i do not think how adversely this will affect the " iphone "  loyal users will use their normal phones for talking and for everything else they will have the iphone . THis may be the extreme example of brand loyalty and only Apple can command it . How much will this issue of the antenna affect , only time will tell. 

So do we not have a compelling reason now to shift to Android ? :)
