Looks to me that the iPhone hype has seriously decreased since the arrival of Android. That must mean something? people who have used Samsung galaxy S know what I am talking about and interestingly Android apps are way too cool than iphone applications lately, that's why we are seeing more no. of smartphone makers opting for Android platform than iphone. I will surely go for a phone which has Android running on it.

UNDOUBTEDLY ANDROID.  ANDROID IS DESIGNED ON LINUX KERNEL WHERE YOU CAN FIND LOW-LEVEL MEMORY MANAGEMENT AND THREADING.

yes..i-phone market is becoming down by android. As android is using the java and the apps are so cool that it can easily take the position of i-phone. And as i am mobile apps developer i know that there is some problem is their regarding i-phone. But after coming i-phone 5, the cost will be some how low. That is the silver line for i-phone.

There are basically 3 popular operating systems in mobile market i.e. Bada, Symbian and Android. Apart from this Windows also trying to capture the market with its OS. But I have read in some technical magazines like DIGIT etc, that Android is most popular specially version 2.1 and above. It can be used for many applications.

Touch screen technologies as resistive vs capacitive are also options with their price tags according to performance. Where capacitive is in demand but little bit costly. Samsung also launched Amoled technology of touch screen with its higher end handsets.

I am also using mobile with Android (version 2.1) os. Its great

So stay connected with dear ones and with technology too.

Nice topic, Nisha.

Other than Symbian, Android, & iOS, there are two other players in the smartphone OS market:

1. Microsoft - Nokia's going all out for this and in fact has given a statement that, in effect, means it will abandon Symbian. Symbian specialists are going to be laid off in a phased manner.

2. Samsung - With their Bada OS (I don't think it is the Hindi word, what say you?) getting better with each revision, they have a definite chance to establish themselves in this space.

However, getting back to the topic, I'd say that the iPhone has an entirely different set of customers (mostly composed of very well-to-do fans of Apple's design philosophy & the high quality).

The iPod, iPhone, & iPad have all started every other manufacturer rushing to get out similar product lines. Now the problem is that Apple products are usually very expensive. That factor alone determines that you have to beg, borrow, or steal to get one of either iPhone or iPad - that is, if you can't afford it with your own income. :D :D

The iPod has been affordable to many. The iPhone 4 and the iPad are quite different. So, I hope you see that devices from other manufacturers cannot usually hang out in the same category as devices from Apple. :)

[Edited for clarity.]
