iphone OS v/s Android OS: Which is the better of the lot??

Apple has recently announced its next iteration of operating system, called as iPhone 4.0 operating system, which would have more than hundred new features. The new operating system is expected to release in the summer for the iPhone and iPod Touch, and for the iPad by year-end.

Apple's iPhone OS and Google's Android OS have a great deal in common; both are Linux-based operating systems for smartphones that have been put together by companies best known for their accomplishments in the PC space.

Before Apple came along, the poster child for closed operating systems was BlackBerry. RIM has built a very, very successful company by developing a proprietary operating system to run only on its smartphones, and Apple is following in its footsteps.

The biggest advantage of this is it lets the developers target the OS for a specific group of devices. Apple's engineers know exactly what the hardware running their OS is going to be, and can tweak the OS to make it run as efficiently on that hardware as possible.

In addition, because there's just one company making BlackBerries, iPhones, etc. these operating systems and associated software are targeted to fulfill that company's goals for their products. The developers don't have to try to meet the disparate needs of a variety of companies.

So, I'll go for iphone...

Iphone comes in the same model, size and manufacturer which is Apple. Whereas android allows a huge amount of people and companies to collaborate on this OS. This mean more handsets to choose from which suits you. I got a Sony Xperia X10, and before this I was hooked on getting an Iphone. But after using a phone with Android software, am in love with it. The Android market is a wow, which offers over 40000+ softwares for free, and the list is being updated daily. Android is the thing of the future. Apple should start working on their OS again. (eventhough an update is releasing soon, its not going to be enough.)

iPhone is a revolutionary product in the history of Mobile Phones. One reason i personally like the phone is coz its an Apple product. All said n done that its a closed system, doesn't give devs the liberty to experiment or show their creativity, but still App Store has more than 140,000 Apps. Another reason I like iPhone is its secured. Yeah it does not give lot of options for devs but thats no reason of comparison. I'm waiting for hands-on on iPhone 4.0 version.

nexus one is awesome  android OS based cell u cannot compare it with i phone my experience is so good of using it .i got it last month and before  this i was hooked oh getting i phone but when i heard by strange buddy that it support more than 50000 application then i purchased it immediately .Andriod OS has its own dignity u know n they have thumping difference from apple i phone once u use it u cannot go for apple itz ma challenge n itz starting range is RS-30000 in indian mkt and genrally known name with G-1(GOOGLE ONE )

Multitasking in Android rocks and provides better speed and resource utilisation, although UserInterface and certain features of it Android need some work I am sure it will be all covered in next release.
