It was money everywhere all right. Courtesy it was IPL 4 auctions that happened in Bangalore, teams spent nearly $75 million, and among that Gautam Gambhir and Yusuf Pathan being sold for USD 2.4m and 2.1m wasn't quite a surprise, but Robin Uthappa, Rohit Sharma and Irfan Pathan going out for USD 2.1m, 2m and 1.9m respectively did raise a few eyebrows. And then Ravindra jadeja whom they had left out in the IPL season 2 and with pathetic performances for Team India went for 950,000 dollars. Was so much money really worth for these players??

I am not surprised. Cricket is love right after bollywood. Players are much more entertainers as are bollywood stars. Have you ever asked if they are worth millions?

I really don't think so that so much money spent on these players is really worth it...first IPL season it was only 5 million cap for all the teams, now its 9 million cap....people were brought at double their price this time around, and it was like people were astounded to see so much money pumped into to get these players by all the teams, And high profile players like Sourav ganguly left out in the auctions, hope KKR team should find some neutral venues to play their matches, as without Sourav ganguly in the team people will not allow to play KKR matches in kolkata, it was a disgrace to see Brian lara left out by all the teams, and some Indian players getting some absurd price every year to play.

instead of spending so much money on IPL they could have donated it to some charitable organizations so that the people in it would have got food and shelter effectively

This is the time to introspect! Point No. 1 - Are these money displayed on paper on each player real? If yes, are there any clarity from the players whether they got the money in full, as declared in the past 3 IPLs? Point No. 2 What is the percentage of allocation made by each player to the intermediaries (PR companies, etc.) who brought their names in favour to this extent? Point No.3 - It is quite clear that they have to shell out close to 40% to the Tax Authorities - therefore, Government would not object to this! Government should bring in a regulation to allocate 10-12% of the aggregated money for the benefit of education and health for under-privileged children, our Nation would prosper in the coming years - so many schools and primary health care facilities would come up in the neglected areas! PAUSE - THINK & ACT!

Till the market is shiny & rosy, keep it glittering. "Make the Hay while the Sun shines". Ulterior of business is money. Be a material at stake or a human being. It does not matter . Venture deal that counts.

the more you spent, if there is a way to earn more and more. more they are getting they are spending in same way. In specualtion/gambling there is no question about worthiness.

Definitely not. IPL is going way of the EPL - English Premier League in football. Even 50% of the money was spent opn developing pother sports in india, we would figure in the top 5 charts in the olympics and world cup of many a game. There seem to be some kind of syndicate working here artificially puching up costs for players who are not even worth half the maount they were paid. Like all other scams, this too wil break out after some time and we will get to read that some underworld dons were invilved in the whole affair.

No not at all the money wasnt worth was just amazed to see the snub to some of the star players on the other hand Joginder sharma being picked up for a whopping 68 lac(Its height of absurdity). On any day ganguly, gayle would be worth the money even if they are playing with one hand tied to their back.Too much money was spent on lesser known players of foreign origin than the indians.Did they forget its Indian premier league instead of international premier league.

Ayan I am in total agreement with you. At the same time it is the business for those 10 business tycoons and they have already made their calculations regarding their loss & profit.

To us what is right is actually wrong for those till they dont find the profit.

Why!! Test cricket is the best form of cricket and that tests the real power of a player. We should not get lost in glamor and forget the roots should we??
BJP too is forcing him to resign but he is seeking legal options to stay in. No one wants him, everyone knows how corrupt he is still he is not willing to leave! what should this attitude be called? Do you think he will resign at will ?
