IPL-4 to reduce matches: Do you support the new concept?

The IPL governing council will meet in Mumbai on Friday and on top of their agenda is a move to reduce the number of matches in IPL 4. Its seen that the proposal to play 94 matches in the tournament has effectively been tossed out of the window. The 10 teams will now be divided into 2 groups of 5 teams each. Each team will play the other in their own group on a home and away basis, this will take the total number of matches in the first stage to 40.  

In the second stage of the tournament, each team will play once against each other every team from the other group. This will add another 25 matches to the original 40.

With this we are missing out on a proper home and away matches concept with all the teams.  What do you think people on this, Do you support this new concept and strategy of IPL governing body??

I think this is a great idea as the number of matches was getting overshot really in the coming season, 94 matches, IPL would have become boring, now its only 69 instead of 94 a much better number, also just 10 more from last season, and to accomodate so many matches in that single window would have been difficult as players will be having their national commitments and it would have been difficult for the franchisees to retain them till the end of the tournament, now everybody is happy, and things will move as it was before except minun Lalit modi from scheme of the things.

i would say yes as too much of anything is bad.The lengthy format could have made it tiring for the players and a bit boring to the viewers. A T20 format(read fixtures) should not look like a test match one!!

India is a cricketing country and the Cricket in India is a Business. Sportsmen spirit, of late, is lacking due to political and business class have influenced this game. Our cricketers are rated akin to 'race horses'. In this jungle raj, cricketers are propitiated with wealth which otherwise they could never earn in their life time. Therefore, they too enjoy succumbing to the pressure. This is no longer a 'gentle man's game'. What we have not seen so far is the players have not bullied the umpires for their wrong decision. Infusion of unethical practices will lead to that too in the years to come, like soccer, etc.

Yes Ayan I am in total agreement with your views. More matches would be boaring 69 matches are probably the correct dose.

This time the viewers will watch with more interest post Modi era and lets look forward to Shasi Tharoor's perticipation.

I agree with Mr. Suresh and this new concept is appreciable... ye sach hai ke jyaada matchh pure tournament ko boring kar dete hai aur sara maza chala jata hai.. ye bahut sahi kadam ho sakta hai, isse IPL ka maza aur bad jayega...

Reduction in number of matches will make the event interesting otherwise more number of matches -a boring event.

Though I agree with the new concept, but the best part in IPL was the home and away basis, but here it will be cut short to only 5 teams in each group and single match against the other group teams in 2nd phase of the tournament, I mean why do you think EPL(English premier league) is so successfull it's because of the both home and away matches, and some 20 teams in the fray, each team will be playing 40 matches there, I agree it is a long format but that is how a premiership format should evolve, cricket is just played because we need to see only the international stars, we need youngster also comeup with them, so give them also a chance to prove their mettle. I think it would have been better if the earlier version is retained.
